I just discovered the recording Humble Pie at the Whisky a Go-Go, what a great recording of a great band. Did Humble Pie ever support the Stones in concert?, would have made a killer double bill in those days.

was fumbling through my pie collection a couple of weeks ago...those early lps still sound purty good...and, no i don't believe the stones and the pie ever shared a bill

30 Days in the Hole!! Awesome band! Nothing like those 60's and 70's bands, gritty, straight ahead rock...the good ole days. Although I'm not a huge Joe Walsh fan, I did love the James Gang in their day. Nazz was another early band that I loved, Todd R's band...anyone have a few names they'd like to toss around of great 70's bands?

What is the best Golden Earring record?, I only know a best of and the hit album they had in the early 80`s.

Gotta nominate Ten Years After for the list. Lots of what was considered fairly non-descript garden variety early 70s hard rock at the time sounds pretty damn good in retrospect.

And has anyone ever really topped the Pie doing "I Dont Need No Doctor" from "Rockin the Fillmore"? "We go 'ome on Monday..."

Somewhat off topic I guess, but I couldn't resist since I know this band very well. In fact, I travelled from Oslo to Goes (in Holland) a couple of months just to see them. On their first four albums they were a "beat group" and then they went heavy in 1969. Their most famous album (and one of the best) is Moontan, which includes Radar Love. I rate this album highly, but I think the album Golden Earring (aka Wall Of Dolls) is even better. In the eighties they had a very strong album Cut (including Twilight Zone) and in the nineties Bloody Buccaneers (including Going On The Run). From the early days On The Double is also very strong. They are really strong songwriters (especially the guitarist George Kooymans). But actually, I recommend any of their 25 albums. They have a new CD out in April, by the way. Looking forward to that, their first one since 2003.

Last time I saw them live in Holland (ca. 2 years ago) they were only playing acoustic . .
