How about choir for a live "You Can't Always Get What You Want"

Ok - my last request for 50th aniiversary!

I think it would be cool that when they are in the bigger cities to have local choirs join them on stage for recreating the LP version of "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Imagine the Harlem Gospel Choir and similar groups across the country doing that?

Not sure that would add much.

You can't always get what you want, unfortunately.

Just as long as they do it at concerts I'm not at. Because I won't be able to fast forward through it as I am oft to do.

I love the choir on the album version, one of their best songs, yes I would love to see it done live with the full choir

Having a choir backup a pop singer onstage has become a cliche these days.

It's not needed.

Nice idea Lynd8 and it would involve the local choirs/communities

I wonder if the Cantores in Ecclesia choir (with Robert Kirby directing), which guested on Elton John's 1971 "All the Nasties," would agree if the Stones played this old favorite live in the UK?

There was a similar thread about this some months ago and someone suggested to have the actual choir that sang on the record up there, as old as they are, now wouldn't that be something.

HA! I guess if we are going to dream, we should dream big.

Seriously, I think a choir for a live performance of YCAGWYW would be pretty cool. Maybe not every show, though. More like a single concert at the Altamont Raceway.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

Ooh yeah, they should accquire the choir from the audience.

but then they should do a different song though.

perhaps "What shall we do with the Drunken Sailor" or stlt.

I just don't get this, most of you are saying no, i thought you are all fans. Let it Bleed i proberbly their best album with cagwyw as one of the best, especially with the choir, how can you not want to see it? Just don't get it.

Well, honey, it's no rock'n'roll show.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

So I can't be a fan AND not like the choir? I love the song, as soon as the Stones start up that is. I'm a fan of the Rolling Stones, not the London Bach Choir.

I do not think The Rolling Stones in 2012 would have nothing to lose in a hell of a large choir on stage

No. Lisa, Bernard, and Blondie are all the choir that song needs onstage. Having a bigass choir onstage is needless bombast.

in 1969 the choir on the studio track was fresh and astonishing.
bringing a choir on stage (especially now, but then too) would just be (as folks have noted) banal bloat,
not rock & roll and not Stoned. more like something ELP would do
(in fact ELP did do it for part of one tour, and even pomp-rock fans rolled their eyes)

the whole arrangement of YCAGWYW is different in concert anyway.
if they're going to "re-enact" stuff from the studio cut,
i vote for that crazy off-kilter cymbal Jimmy Miller got so perfect
in the lead-up to the time-change

On a special occasion it could actually work, and the choir could be staying for the next song - Salt of the earth. But during an entire tour - no!

Still don't get you lot, the choir is brilliant and yes it is not rock and roll but it is things like this with the choir that makes the Stones great.
