Jump On Top Of Me
(Mick Jagger / Keith Richards)

Windmill Lane Recording Studios, Dublin, Ireland, December 1993 and
Don Was’ Private Studio & A&M Recording Studios, Hollywood,
Los Angeles, California, US, January 15 - April 23, 1994

Mick Jagger - vocals, electric guitar, harmonica
Keith Richards - electric guitar
Charlie Watts - drums
Ron Wood - electric slide guitar
Darryl Jones - bass

I've been working so hard, and feelin' no pain
Sure got pains in my head, my legs feel limp
Don't want to hear no noise, don't want to hear you cuss
I need peace of mind, don't you make no fuss
Jump on top of me baby, jump on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl, give it to me nice and slow

Well, there's too much talkin', 'bout this and that
And the window needs fixin', better feed the cat
We're fresh out of beer, could you answer the phone
Well, you call this bisque, well I'm leavin' home
Jump on top of me baby, jump on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl, give it to me nice and slow, alright

Well, jump on top of me baby, jump on top of me baby
Get on top of me girl, everybody lay down low

Well, when we first met, we were both so young
We didn't give a damn, how the clock would run
The time is wise, to make some fool of you
Cause it's gettin' late, what would you like to do
Jump on top of me baby, get on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl, give it to me nice and slow, alright

Well, jump on top of me baby, jump on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl and give it to me nice and slow, alright

Jump on top of me baby, jump on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl, everybody lay down low, alright
Jump on top of me baby, yeah, top of me baby
On top of me girl, everybody lay down low

I can't stand it, when the sun comes up
Gonna need some comfort, ‘cause I can't stand up
Shut the blinds, I'm gonna shut the shades
And tell the neighbors, we'll be gone for days
Jump on top of me baby, jump on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl, give it to me nice and slow, alright

Produced by Don Was & The Glimmer Twins

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “You Got Me Rocking / Jump On Top Of Me” 7” single

Average latter day sleazy Stonesy rocker that grooves along pretty nicely. Good driving beat and some typical Keith n Ronnie guitar weaving going on. Also features some cool harp blowing from Mick. Very 90s Stones sound as they tried to get back to basics after the stadium rock sound of Steel Wheels.

They played it live in 1995 once, no?

The line is "If you call this bliss" not "If you call this brisque."

Pretty sure it's "Time is wise" not "Time is right."

Best Stones sounding song since Mixed Emotions, but not until Rough Justice.

Better than most songs on the album.

Actually I believe all the B Sides should have been on the album.

A little bit Stones-by-numbers, but very enjoyable.

I recall ringing a record store and asking what tracks were on the single, and a very embarrassed female voice at the other end reading out Jump On Top Of Me,I did not know what the tracks were,so it came as a rather amusing moment after a few apologies from both sides.
A fine song though none the less, like a lot.

Also used in soundtrack of Robert Altman's Pret-a-Porter

Mmmmmmm, I ADORE this track!! What an incredible sound; production-wise I'd put it up there with Jimmy Miller's finest. That throaty guitar twang at the very beginning just floors me, and then Charlie coming in with that slinky beat ... sweet bliss. Mick's seductive vocals meshing perfectly, and then that incredible harp ...

This is the sound of the Stones firing on all cylinders.

I remember how hard this track was to find, and how lucky I felt when I discovered it. Why they buried this one is a mystery to me. Pure Stones magic.

The instrumental version is an awesome track too - great classic Stones guitars.

Another throwaway cut from a retro-album. Practically every song is a weaker version of an earlier one. Hate the way the drums sound.

Yeah! This is the best song to come out of the Voodoo Lounge sessions. It should have been a single. It's got an amazing groove going on (courtesy of Keith, and this song has probably Darryl Jones's best bass part with the Stones so far) and it's got one great harmonica part by Mick. The vocal melody is very enjoyable, too.

I only wish I had discovered this gem sooner than when I got a used CD of the soundtrack album its on a few years back. It should have been on "Voodoo Lounge" itself and another song on the soundtrack instead.

Come On, I've noticed that you and I ALWAYS have the opposite opinions. It's really spooky ... like we're from opposite, parallel universes.
