Cheating implies getting around normal ways to win. I bet the links you would provide all feature old people and have nothing to do with anything. In my opinion there is no room in the NFL game to pay players extra money to injure other players. As I said when I first read/posted about his, if people and players want the rules to allows paying bounties to injure others then the NFL will not have a game within 3-4 years because there will be no players left. Not sure what you mean by the size of the fines. The 8 million Dollars is huge and the loss of a head coach could be fatal(for a while).... The cost of 2 draft picks taken away?... how do we put a value on that? The team being fined $500,000, that is a drop in the bucket... and I am not sure what fines will be put on individual players who took money, I think I read they are still looking.... but imuho I think they should sit for an entire year too... with the main objective being... send the message.... DO NOT TAKE BOUNTY MONEY to hurt players.

As far as Stallworth DUI killing that person and not being banned forever, that is just sad commentary on the 1%ers being able to buy their way out of manslaughter. If a normal person had DUI killed like that, they would still be in jail. period. For all the fkg BS ads and hullaballoo about dont drink and drive blah blah... I guess it only applies to poor schmucks.... just sad sad sad commentary on how things really are.

I don't think the draft picks are a big deal. That's next to nothing. The $500,000 fine is insulting actually. That's it? You ban the coach of a entire year and only fine the team $500,000????

Goodell says he has "proof" that Vilma said about the ten grand for Favre. Vilma has been on record saying he never said that. Goodell is going to deal with the 22 to 27 players, whatever that means, next. There is definitely some fiction involved. The NFL has never exactly been "aware" of what it sees. They choose to ignore obvious things and expound upon other things that are mole hills at best.

Of course, zero attention to all the other teams will happen, yet alone the past. Goodell won't admit to that. The Saints got caught and no one else. I'm glad Williams is out. The Saints issued a well written statement. This will be a very interesting season, most likely with Spagnuolo as the head coach.

Gregg Williams keeping a list. Genius. That's just great. The way it sounds so far is the Loomis and Payton possibly didn't believe it was going on. That's what it seems like anyway. Hence the lack of action. The Patriots thing though... they made that go away real fast huh.

What the Patriots did was much worse than this silly Bounty thing. There's only one reason for the severity of the sanctions against the Saints -- the NFL is prepping for the huge class action suit for all those concussions and brain damaged players. It's amazing how concerned they suddenly are about player safety.

This is a great miscarriage of justice to the Saints and to the game itself. It doesn't pale to the lack of justice dealt to Trayvon Martin who was simply murdered for no reason at all. Still pisses me off!

Bottom line. Trying to intentionally hurt someone to the point they are knocked out of the game.Is not only unsportsmanlike.But incredibly stupid. These guys are already making millions of dollars. A couple thousand more will motivate them? What if it was them who got knocked out.Had their careers cut short.Risked permanent injury? Plus, they were warned multiple times to knock it off.Then lied when asked about it. Not to mention the fact the Saints still had a shitty defense anyway. Here's a crazy thought. You go out there and play the game the way it's supposed to be played. With some class and dignity and respect for your fellow player. Saints deserve everything they got and more.

The Patriots were caught cheating red-handed. What they did - and they did it over a long period of time - was much worse than bountygate. Guess what? NFL players have been trying to knock each other out for years. That's why they hit each other so hard. And the NFL encouraged and rewarded it.

Spygate was a much bigger deal because it involved outright cheating in order to win games. Note that the Patriots haven't won the SB since they were caught. And there were no suspensions for Spygate.
