oh my god, i got called out! now YOU are a troll, Max'sKansasCity!
you remind me of Senator McCarthy. you see trolls everywhere!

let us look into the definition of a troll, shall we.
Troll: In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

hmm... there doesn't seem to be much trolling in those examples you gave.
Max'sKansasCity, how old are you? oh wait. i shouldn't ask that delicate question because i'm a troll!!
grow some balls. if you get called out by someone, that person is not a troll. if someone who has been on this site for a short time confronts you and calls you out, they are not a troll. quit your paranoid thinking. quit being so sensitive.

yawn...... alrighty then.

in fact, your labeling me as a troll is designed to elicit an emotional response from me. therefore, you are a troll. how does it feel to be one of those that you hate so very much? it doesn't feel very good, does it. so maybe you should stop calling people a troll over every little thing and own up to your own errors? try it. perhaps this forum and the internet will be a better place. g'day.

I have not posted here in awhile because frankly there is not much coming out of the Stones camp these days camp and practically anything that can be said has been said about them. Another reason is because certain posters just make this board a drag to be on at times with irrelevant and obnoxious posts.

It is interesting to note the irony and the hypocrisy that MKC displays here because he indulges in the very activity he claims to abhor, i.e., trolling. He has polluted this thread with nonsensical, irrelevant, childish. derisive and obnoxious posts on a subject he clearly has no interest in. We got it Max, you don't like country music and apparently new posters as well since you seem to automatically assume they are trolls. Based on what? Because they happen to disagree with you? And if you should choose to respond with a childish retort as seems your wont, please address me as 'Mr. 3,994 posts plus the thousands before Bjornuff replaced his server" since you seemingly have an elitist view on long term posters. And if I find myself inclined to reply, probably out of boredom, I will address you as MaxiPad, since you seem to like using a vulgar and profane word to describe a venerable musical institution. That's about all I have to say and is all the time I'm willing to spend on the matter. On to better things.

Chris, Never knew I had a problem with you, sorry to hear you feel that way.

I went back and deleted what seemed to be my offending posts, and I will do my best to steer clear of any posts related to country music.

Yeah, I have been noticing the "we" lately, not sure what that is all about, but it is kind of intersting.

Hey Max, do you agree now that country music was an influence on at least Keith?
(I did try to read through this thread - I did not catch it if you agree or not, in the beginning you stated you did not think so and I am not trying to start anything spinning smiley sticking its tongue out)

ain't it strange that Ronnie so much better when he plays with people who are not members of the Stones…?

Yes, it is remarkable. E. g. the best versions of "Love in Vain" with Ronnie are the different ones of the Faces ...

Right on Erik and scottkeef. I posted that same vid on page 3 of this thread. It's good enough to be re-posted though. As I mentioned, I had not seen this performance since the show aired in the mid 80s and I'd love to have a complete copy. Anyone have a good copy they would be willing to sell/trade?

post ONE QUOTE/ARTICLE/SOURCE for this country influence BS.
Post ONE quote from any of the Stones where they state Hank Williams as an influence.

I swear I've read both Mick and Keith talk about Hank Williams. Mick has two beautiful country songs on Wandering Spirit. Ronnie does a lot of country pedal steel on - hell, listen to Shattered even. Look at what Keith's done over the years that hasn't been released - he's covered some country. And he did this with George Jones:

What about The Worst? That's country.

Keith's hung out with Willie doing a song the Stones recorded for Emotional Rescue!

So yeah, the Stones, as a band and as individuals, have NOTHING to do with country music. The blues and country music are practically the same, at least before country music turned into schmaltzy and then slick arena rock.

Sorry for posting something that was already posted - I saw Max's edited posts that have nothing in them. And then I went to page 2 and 3. Wow. A permanent case of the Mondays huh.

Btw... Johnny Cash was one of Brian Jones favorite singers, when he was broke he sold his Johnny Cash records to Carlo Little, the drummer one time for the early Stones. I have also read/heard from an interview from Mick that Keith liked to dress up as a cowboy, and liked country music from a very early age.
