Thanks for the heads-up on this. Caesar has done great work with UniVibes and Electric Gypsy, so I'm looking forward to this. Any other Hendrix fanatics here? Does anyone know of a Hendrix site as informative + well-done as IORR?

Until We Meet Again: The Last Weeks of Jimi Hendrix

"Finally: the truth about Jimi's last weeks on Earth.

The book will de-myth all the nonsense that's been around for 4 decades by "experts" and/or self-appointed part-time amateur "sleuths":

* Jimi mixed sleeping pills with alcohol? Nope!

* Jimi was covered in "red wine" when he arrived at the hospital: Nope!

* Jmi died in the Samarkand flat: Nope!

* Jimi was dead "for hours" before he arrived at the hospital: Nope!

* Jimi was "murdered by his manager": Nope!

* Etc." Caesar Glebbeek

its great there is a new book, and that its written by a good Hendrix scholar

but damn thats a goofy choice for cover photo.

Odds are he'll opt for the ever-popular "the girlfriend did it" thesis.
See: Morrison, Jim.

I like the goofy cover tho!

I think it captures the real Hendrix, the bright kid from Seattle that liked football and Elvis Presley. That last appearance on the Dick Cavett Show was a real bummer, as Jimi looks downcast and stressed out from his life. There's enough photos of Hendrix as serious looking Electric Afroed Rock God. It would have been great to see him live, overcome some issues with management, and maybe have more of his humor on display.

well...

the photo shows him happy and I'm glad for that. I still think he was more important as a composer, instrumentalist and artist than that photo allows.

Ah yes, Glebbeek who never knew Hendrix and was nowhere near him when he died.

The cover photo was taken 12 days before his death, in Germany, before his last gig.

The cover photo was taken the day of his last concert, at the Isle of Fehmarn. Hendrix looks pretty happy in the photos from that day, which is surprising if you know the circumstances. The recordings from that '70 European tour are fascinating.

Perhaps he merely accepted a teaching post in Australia, like Rutles manager Leggy Mountbatten.

Star posing with fan hardly conveys deep friendship.

MANY IORR posters possess photos of themselves with the Rolling Stones but do not claim to be "friends." Nor do they spend YEARS living off a dead man.

Jeez, Hendrix has to be the most milked-out artist ever, they're going to squeeze every last penny from his corpse.

I know Caesar Glebbeek for about 22 years and he never said or wrote anywhere he was a friend of Jimi Hendrix. I do not have any shot posing with Hendrix (I was 5 years when he died) but he deeply totally changed my life forever and I spent 21 years now "living off him".

We do already, don't we? He choked in his own vomit, the rest is bullshit. Who ever believes all these "conspiracy" stuff about his manager killing him or whatever are idiots anyway. Interesting how you or the author called other people that wrote books or whatever "experts" sarcastically or "self-appointed part-time amateur sleuths" yet this guy calls himself "the number one Hendrix specialist"...
Can't you all just leave the poor guy alone, he's been dead for 40 years.

No one would be more offended than the late great Jimi Hendrix himself regarding

self-aggrandizing, self-proclaimed "Hendrix specialists."
