OT: Alice Cooper @ the 100 Club (Rolling Stones relevance)

Hi all,

I was most fortunate to see Alice Cooper at the 100 Club on Sunday night. It was a stripped down show, with none of the theatrics and stage props (except the brief appearance of a boa constrictor) customary at a normal Alice show. Alice even said he was not performing in his guise as "Alice".

It was a storming rock n' roll show in the truest sense. here is the set list (covers in bold text):

Train Kept A Rollin'
Under My Wheels
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Is It my Body?

Brown Sugar (yeah, yeah, yeah, woooooooooooo)

I'll Bite Your Face Off
Muscle of Love
Cold Ethyl
Billion Dollar Babies
Back In the USSR
Poison
You Really Got Me
I'm Eighteen
School's Out
Elected
We Gotta Get Out of This Place
Fire

Johnny Depp joined the band on guitar for I'm Eighteen and School's Out and carried himself off admirably.

Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper

Cheers,
SonicD

Wow - brilliant set list Sonic. I saw him at the Roundhouse last November and it was slightly disappointing as he had a poodle rock hair band with him. The twin guitarists were awful and the set was played in a heavy metal stylee.

Saw him at Wembley 75 when he did the Welcome To My Nightmare tour - now that was a great show!

Not from me, as I keep it to the minimum so I can focus on the music and vibe.
There is stuff by other people up on YouTube though.

Wow, that must of been awesome to see him at that venue and with some special songs to boot. I saw him last Friday in Basel, he didn't have the snake. I wonder why. The gig was excellent though.

Very cool SD. Seen Coop several times. Always good. But wouldn't mind seeing like this. Without the whole big presentation. Just rock & roll.

"Fire" -- Hendrix or Crazy World of Arthur Brown?

I'd dig Alice doing the latter....

more than likely hendrix. alice has been doing the hendrix song for over 20 years even releasing a studio version as a b-side in the early 90's

Beast, well put.

Fire was the Hendrix version.

Phenomenal guitarist Steve Hunter (of Lou Reed "Berlin" fame, not to mention from Alice's career from 1973 to 1977), has only just joined Alice for this tour. This is probably due to his involvement with the original Welcome To My Nightmare and the WTMN II project.

Alice doesn't apparently travel with the same snake/s, but has snakes on "retainer" in certain territories, which he has used before. The one/s he uses when touring the UK are provided by a bloke from Haddington, Scotland, who drove down specially for the purpose. Alice has a several snakes in the States and one in Canada. My guess is this solves the obvious quarantine problems he would otherwise encounter.

Cheers,
SonicD

Johnny D. takes the second solo on "I'm 18" and he sounds pretty good; I had never heard him play before. So is Depp a good guitar player?
Rock and Roll,

I always liked Alice Cooper.

He did some great stuff.

The Schools Out album had a cool cover.
