I wish I could find The Coasters' awesome version of "Besame Mucho" with the great King Curtis playing some mind-bending sax. It never seems to get included on Coasters compilations (digital format). I used to have it on tape.

Well it's on the 4 CD box-set which I highly recommend (a bit pricey though), if not there's a LOT of compilations out there, though be careful of re-cuts by later line-ups. Great guide here: [www.angelfire.com]

You can listen to it here:

If you do a search on Google blogs, you can find it for download, IF that's your thing. Not that I recommend doing that, of course.

Thank you, good people! Muchas gracias.

Apparently "Besame Mucho Part 2" is the one I'm looking for, where King Curtis really stretches out with the most beautiful, melodic phrasing. The song that Grooveshark calls Part 2 is, correct me if I'm wrong, the same recording as Part 1.

The search goes on. Hey! That reminds me of another Coasters song.

Was just listenin to their greatest hits album a couple of days ago. They were excellent.

Remember this great scene from Tarantino's 'Death Proof' ?

and this little gem (only a b-side, I think), which was used as an ad for the Volkswagen Passat in the 90s on British TV

Down In Mexico from the Tarantino movie is a later recut. The original (their first A side, from 1956) is far superior in my opinion:
