OT: Stoke City

I used to follow the English football team Stoke City as a big football fan from tha late 60's and on, as a young teenager. I was buying the UK football magazines Shoot! and Goal! every week. I liked Stoke City because they had this world class goalkeeper Gordon Banks. Then they had of course some other great players too, I do believe one of them was John Ritchie, but my memory is not good. When The Rolling Stones took up all my time from 1971 and on I had less time to follow Stoke City, but the team has always been close to my heart, the sort of underdogs. I was never a fan of the big teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U or Liverpool...

Anyway, they have been out of the top for some time, now they have been playing with the top teams for a while, and today, on show day open day for the major Zip Code tour, it is great news to see that my own Potters team just did ... yes ... six to one ... against Liverpool!

Congratulations! May be I should plan a trip to Stoke-on-Trent next season!

It was a great and totally unexpected result BV.

For my sins I support Manchester City but have done so for 48 years..not just since they were taken over by a rich oil sheikh. For decades they too were a kind of under dog team.

Anyway my point is that Stoke beat us 1-0 at our place at the beginning of the season which was an equally amazing result. So hats off to the Potters, as they are known. They're a decent side.

Sparky has done a fantastic job this last couple of years there; wouldn't surprise me too much if they're challenging for Europe next season.
And what a perfect way for Stevie Me's premier league career to end....

OUCH!
Coupled with a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace in his last match at Anfield!

Very bad result for Liverpool and Steven Gerrard, but a great win for Stoke. thumbs up

Don't think The Stones will ever play at the biggest venue in Stoke, but nearest one may be London some time this year or 2016.

As a Manchester United fan, may I take a moment congratulate Stoke City on a marvellous victory and ensuring Gerrard got the send-off he so thoroughly deserved.

Congratulations, Geordie!

In Germany it´s "Relegation" play off, the 16 th of the Bundesliga
against the 3rd of the Zweite Liga. Normally I am against relegation,
it´s just two more games for the football mafia to earn more money.
In the good old days the last three went down, the first three got up.
That´s the result of the season and just fair.

But as a fan of the HSV (Hamburger Sport verein! Nur der HSV!)
I benefit of the relegation modus for the 2nd time in a row...nervewrecking.

In Germany Freiburg and Paderborn went down to the 2nd division. HSV has
got two more chances to stay...against Karlsruher SC.

Strange going ons up there, 'everyone' wanted Pardew out - ok, the headbutting loon wasn't getting great results but then since he's gone you've dropped like a stone...& Palace have done ok even against our reserves (Swansea) yesterday even though we were Singing Hymns & A-r-i-as........

I was one of the very few pro Pardews and i got slaughtered regularly for that view but i stand by it now and feel i'm being proved right. The main problem is Mike Ashley and until he's gone nothing will change at NUFC sadly.

Well, that may explain why Slash has only returned the one-time since he left as a small child.
