Anybody here who saw Rolling Stones in Bern 1973 ?
Posted by: Erik_Snow ()
Date: April 26, 2011 17:21

We're having a discussion on DIME, concerning the dates of the 3 Bern 1973 recordings

A new - previously unknown source was shared 3 days ago: [www.dimeadozen.org]
Quality is really excellent - considering that it's from 1973

So this lamp post was made for 3 reasons:

- if somebody on this board attended one of these shows, please share some memories (or some comments from Jagger - as it might help us dating the different shows)
- this thread of mine, will help push the "I'm sorry but I have to leave" thread by watchman being a bit down on page of IORR.

- if nobody gives a damn....then please post a 1973 picture. It will make this thread worth visiting.

This is really a poor response!
I mean, we are talking about a new and uncirculated tape of a show from Berne 73 here, not about Real Madrid, anybody being overrated, or Kate what's her name???
I'm really afraid this board degenerates into a gossip board and that maybe the real Stones matters will be discussed elsewhere in the future.
No one here on this board, who can tell us a bit about the Berne shows??

Exactly the reason why I have not offered to post the Bern show on a direct-DL site.
I mean why bother?

But the point is to get it raw/clean not soiled by some clueless bootlegger...

If there was someone on this board who attended this show or could tell you some interesting information he/she probably would have reacted, although I think Erik did post some interesting things.

I really like to read serious information on this board (although most of it is already discussed many times)
And for the gossip, I would be out here if there wasn't any stupid talk or jokes now and then...............................

That's not English.

With its ruling in the Bernese Tagblatt Matthias Lauterburg was still gracious. I have the presence of 26 Stones Sept. 1973 as the worst ever attended concert in memory. Completely uninspired and modulated miserable. The bad mood - literally - was also transmitted to the audience. No comparison to the rousing, highly professional shows in Basel "Joggeli" in 1982 and 95

Unfortunately I was not able at that time to call myself a Swiss Citizen. That happenend years later. eye popping smiley
Do not forget that the Swiss Press have been always very reluctant and very conservative against the Rolling Stones. They did not leave a tip of any good in any of the critics in the last 40 years.
Participating on stones concerts in Switzerland since 1982 until today the best have been clearly Basel 90 and Lausanne 2007.

Even when people are argueing about super trooper concerts in 1973 none of such concerts superseeded any lousy one of the US, at least when recalling the available sources. But as always that is my oppinion and yours is yours.

Please don't take it personal, sometimes I read the "gossip" too; for some,it might be the cream in the coffee; so I just wanted to state that "coffee" is the main reason why we are here.

Around the time of the Berne/Munich/Fankfurt shows Bobby Keyes was forced to leave, maybe he didn't do much wrong after all; perhaps he had to go because the band was in a foul mood?

Grabbed that boot from Dime-A-Dozen (thanks, Erik!!) and listening right now. Quality is definitely decent, performance is great.

Jagger is slightly over the top, lots of screaming and barking, but it's still good and I love the spontaneous feel and small variations here and there (which is the reason I listen to boots in the first place anyway).

Mick Taylor is in top form -- great solos on YCAGWYW and Gimme Shelter, cool improvisations on Mr D. Keith is tight and good.

Definitely a recommended listen for Taylor era fans!

I'd say we take the VGP-dates as correct (like straycat58 suggested in the other thread) and the "new" one fits in perfectly as 9/26 2nd show. I recently noticed that even my old tapes have the same dates as given on "Swiss Made". That's no proof but a hint anyway.
