This is quite normal in England, most people say "pint of milk" that's just the way it has always been.
In my part of the US, the only time we'd use "pint" is to do with alcohol. Typically Whiskey or Bourbon and it would be assumed as in, "I'm gonna get me a pint bottle." Also used to refer to donating blood or selling plasma... The money from which could then be used to buy the aforementioned liquor.
Gotta love the vernacular of different regions!

Just got back, I was a bit longer than half an hour, it was 4 and a half days. I got lost, anyway I got 2 pints instead but I'll have to go out again soon as i am down to my last tea bag. Is it 'tea bag' in other countries or is that an English thing as well?
