The Rolling Stones And The Green Bay Packers

The Rolling Stones (as an organization) remind me a lot of the Green Bay Packers National Football League franchise. They Stones may have had their ups and downs throughout the years but they eventually always end up back on top, The Packers had a long drought after Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr moved on, but eventually they found their way back to the top of the mountain with Mike Holmgren and Brett Favre. Now a decade later they are once again back on top with Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rogers. The Stones survived the self destruction of Brian Jones, and the departures of Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman and kept right on rollin. They even survived WWIII and found a way to carry on. Now they have grown old and many are counting them out, however, before we do that we need to look back and see how they have survived all these years. They have survived by being able to improvise, to adapt, to whatever circumstances have come their way. Today is no different. If Keith's arthritis has gotten so bad that he needs support then that is exactly what they will get him. The show will go on, maybe it won't be exactly as it was, but the Rolling Stones will keep on rollin, at least for a little while longer.

Not so sure, the Ice Bowl at least had a happy conclusion to it. Not so sure much good came out of Altamont other than the Stones survived.

no...no...the Packers were never forced to leave their country...not a comparable activity, a football franchise and a rock band..

Seeing that the Green Bay Packers are a non-profit, community-owned team, there is no way they can be compared.

What's next? Why not compare them to GM? Or HBO? Wal-Mart?

Of course they can be compared, CONTEXT, my friend, CONTEXT! Thought I did a pretty good job of detailing in what CONTEXT!

No they can't be compared. Yer off yer rocker. There is no context with that. Yer just inventing things for the sake of typing something and making yet another thread.

All organizations or business's that have been successful over a long period of time share many common "winning traits". Good ownership/leadership/management, etc. are a must for any business to be successful especially over the long haul. The ability to make consistently good decisions, to improvise, to adapt, etc., to ever changing circumstances is a real art form. In baseball the Yankees obviously come to mind. In Football it's the Steelers, and the Packers, and more recently the Patriots. In Hockey it's been the Red Wings of late and overall the Canadiens. In the business of Rock 'N' Roll touring you would have to say U2 of late, and the Stones overall as being the most successful.
