i'd like an order of #2 and a side of #6, thanks....
Whatever you like or dislike is up to you, but there really is more to the Monkees than people think.
The Monkees had some of the best session players in LA on their first two records and some of the best songwriters (Boyce & Hart, Neil Diamond) writing for them. They also had a lot of integrity by rebelling against Don Kirshner and showing some independence.
Though Sting can be a bit much to take, The Police were a fine band, very innovative rhythmically, and they wrote great songs.
I am not a fan of Queen, but there are so many worse bands (Guns & Roses comes to mind) who came after that I am a bit surprised you singled them out.
Really, no one after 1990 that bothers you more than these three?

Brian May is a great guitarist but I don't like Queen at all
I love The Police - Sting and Stewart were fantastic together and Andy Summers' guitar washes over the top of that rhythm section made it completely unique music
Mike Nesmith turned out to be a pretty good producer. He found the Hellecasters.
I really don't like Pink Floyd...although Dave Gilmour is interesting
I find Eric Clapton very boring but love the Ocean BLVD LP

Queen- if you had seen them live in concert, you may have a different opinion.
I don't like-Styx, Kansas,KISS,Poison,Metallica just for starters.

Rock FM bands, Hair metal bands with their $hitload of stupid videos. Those dudes really looked stupid , very pretentious and not funny at all.

The Grateful Dead. Any band with a martian sounding lead singer like Styx. But especially the Grateful Dead. Their vocals are like sour milk in my ears.

Good old Elvis was quite good at this. He once described Jackson Browne as "fvck me I'm sensitive" music, and called Linda Ronstadt's version of "Allison" "a waste of vinyl".

Any band with Bruce Springsteen. The Eagles, U2, Journey, Loverboy, 38 Special but to name a few... Some of the worst pop music ever made....
