Mick Jagger - long hair or short hair?
Posted by: The Sicilian ()

Do you prefer Mick with his hair long or short? Does short hair make him look older or would long hair make him look younger? Would longer (below or at shoulder) hair length give him a more retro 70's feel for the Stones?

This idea resurfaced with the pics of Steven Tyler on American Idol who is only 5 years younger than Jagger but his hairstyle makes him look more "rock hardened" but not 80's hair crazy.

Depends also on the colour of the hair - Willie Nelson with gray hair looks very old. The skin makes a difference as well, wrinkled skin makes you look older and then the behaviour. Jagger acts young, Nelson acts old and has done that the last many years.

Yikes! I was expecting to see some pictures of Mick and his fabulous hair and was frightened by Tyler instead! You should put a warning in your header grinning smiley

Mick's hair looks great the length it is...not too long or too short!

thumbs up Yes, please. I was quite taken aback by the appearance of Mr. Tyler. I would have avoided the thread had I known what was waiting for me. confused smiley

Steel Wheel's tour was great, but Mick's short hair
wasn't that cool. I'll say long

I loved it long in 76.

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

Depends on the style. ANd age....
Mick's short, little-boy haircut in 73 brought his boyish features and he looked very handsome. The long hair in 75 was sexy yet manly...
Those are my favorite Jagger-hair eras.

Jagger's 67. As cool as it looked back in the 70s he would look silly and retarded with a hair-do like he had in 1975-76.

After watching Tyler on American Idol I have to say that he does look good for his age. His long hair fits him quite well and he does not look silly at all. Once again he will be 63 years old this year. He looks like a rocker and still appears hip.

Jagger could grow his hair long and not look silly either. What makes Mick look silly is when he wears those black skinny pants and those high soled sneakers. He lost his flair for clothes and styles (especially on stage) and is leaning to a more conservative look.

Nothing was worst than the knee pads and NY Jets jersey. That whole 78 81 look was embarassing

Mck's too old for the long hair stuff now. It was fab up until about say 2000. Mind variations are very welcome, thus I am one of the few I know who liked the 89/90 short hair stuff. The hockey thing, and most things long hair, were very much uot of date at that point, and the Stones very much wanted to be hip and up to date at that point. And succeeded. And the hairdo fitted, and looked good along with the short t-shirts. actually. IMO.
Steven Tyler's teeth don't fit the rest of his face. That's what struck me first. His hair, I don't care. Guess it's OK still.
Woody should do something though. One should not walk about having the same hairdo or concept all one's life, all ages! That's rediculous!

Strongly disagree on both accounts.

Tyler looks like a bad plastic surgery victim.

Ronnie Wood looks just fine and is styled tastefully on most occasions.

Although I prefer the long hair, (love that 1975-1976 hairdo), in 1973 his short hair looked pretty good too. Yea, I also think the worst was the steel wheels style. He looks good with the actual hair lenght.

I don't go so much for the Steel Wheels-era (1989-1991) Mick Jagger. Why? Some people compared him to actress Jamie Lee Curtis.

I think Mick's hair at the Knebworth show was longest its ever been. Unless he let it grow longer into 1977 before the short haircut of 1978.
