Is this the only shirt Keith brought with him in '78 ?
Was that one the infamous 'shoe show' or did that take place at the show the day before?
I was there and they were a 90 minute horrior especially given the nearly three hour tour de force they'd presented in the same venue three years earlier. After having to tolerate rain, Kansas, Tosh (reggae was still out of the mainstream in the Midwest though I'd seen Marley a couple years earlier in Cleveland) and a tight-rope walker,Jaggers voice was a croak and the band very sloppy. His appearance was horrific with the garish eye make up and that silly hat. The "punters," as you folks in Europe might call them, were not expecting a generous helping of Some Girls either. This in no way, however, justifies throwing shoes or fireworks at the band.
I also attended this show. Was a "Day On The Green" with Peter Tosh, Eddie Money and Santana. Great show but the two and half hour wait for the Stones to finally arrive was a bit much! Still have one of those Stones tongue ping pong balls they dropped from the helicopters when they finally arrived. I think most the blow up dolls were destroyed on impact by the frenzied crowd. Final show of the Some Girls tour on Mick's 35th birthday. Tickets were $11.00

I remember hearing about that 2-1/2 hour delay. The delay at Anaheim wasn't that much shorter. But according to Keith in his book it's "Hey, sorry, too bad.
I was asleep."
Was there at both concerts and the shoe incident was on the 2nd show (24/07)

a couple of months after this show, i met a guy at the UofO dorms who had taken a bunch of up-close pix at this gig...borrowed some of the better negatives and had some 8x10 pix made for my dorm walls...loved looking at those as i listened to the various boots circulating from that tour. fun time to be a stones fan.

I thought the audience were being a-holes, throwing things at Mick Jagger while he was trying to entertain people who'd spent all day in dreary weather. And of course there was some a-hole who threw firecrackers and made the band wince.

That was my first Rolling Stones concert. We drove to Anaheim around 4AM to get in line (it was a general admission show) and held a spot at the front of the stage all day. Anyway, I remember people started tossing their shoes on stage and then Mick said "All right! I want all your shoes!" This was followed by a torrent of shoes.
I kept mine on.
Another memorable Mick quote from that show was "You American girls make me so f--king horny!"

Thanks, great photos! To me this is the last tour where Keith (and probably all of them) looked really cool, by 1981 they were still playing great but did not look as cool as here.
