That's where because of the timing and location of various shows, the have to have multiple stages heading for different venues at the same time in order to be able to be set up to meet show times, on time.

Anyone have any insight into this? Folks bidding on moving them around would,...

Yes, they've done that in the past.

What coming tour are you talking about? There isn't one planned, at least officially, right now. In fact, nobody is touring this year that requires that many stages.

It's been since about '76 (or so) that Mick has leapfrogged anything.

We'll have to wait for that tour 'til the frog grows some hair, I'm afraid

IF they tour, they probably won't leapfrog. They'll do what they did this year, a few shows here, a few shows there. Leapfrogging was back in the days when they would play 4-5 shows a week - they were still young enough to pull that off physically.

Now they likely won't due to their age, and to the INSANE cost of doing it. They've already greatly cut their captil with their current light-weight stage, I'm sure that thing costs WAY less than their SW, VL, BTB, 40L and ABB stages - WAY less.

If they tour, they're going to just use the same one stage they have to cut costs even more.

Oh, and the tickets prices won't go anywhere but up, up, and awaaaaaay....

Remember, aside from some custom set pieces like the tongue itself, most of the stage is rented. Line-array (sound), lighting, platforms, are all already existing and in storage.

Yeah — that's it! I'm talking about the one that's not planned. That one. ;—)

Most big acts have two stages travelling the country at any given time. Even Springsteen, who's stage is pretty simple.

Don't forget though that: 1.) it wasn't that long ago, and, 2.) they did take 2+ years doing it.

Now they likely won't due to their age, and to the INSANE cost of doing it. They've already greatly cut their captil with their current light-weight stage, I'm sure that thing costs WAY less than their SW, VL, BTB, 40L and ABB stages - WAY less.

They've also got the insane ticket prices not to mention all the other attendant merchandising from which to pay the insane costs.

If they tour, they're going to just use the same one stage they have to cut costs even more.

An educated guess on your part? Or, you know that this is the case?

Oh, and the tickets prices won't go anywhere but up, up, and awaaaaaay....

Well, Branson is also doing work way up there with his coming space travel for the average billionaire program.

The so called "leap-frogging" is only used for the steelwork structure (i.e. the supporting backbone of the stage) for stadium shows.
Normally, only one set of decorative elements, lighting, sound and video equipment is used for stadium shows.

For indoor arena shows this method is not used, since the entire stage is set up in less than a day.

also keep in mind the tongue stage was a indoor arena stage ,which when and if they do stadiums again(hopeful thinking)it would be a much bigger stage.
