He doesn't do the equivalent of 12 mi/show! That's ridiculous. That's running a 10 minute mile for 2 hours. Not happening during a show! Come on, people!

Well, consider this:

I do a bit of running myself, and it's my understanding that running and walking both burn about 100 calories per mile in most people.
I know it sounds weird that running & walking burn about the same amount, but that's what they say.

Back during the day of Mick's highest on-stage physical activity, I could easily see him burning 1200 calories during a two-hour performance, equaling about the effort of a 12-mile run/walk.
He may not be moving his body 12 miles back & forth across the stage, but the physical activity of a Stones show, at least some time during his career, probably did equal the energy expenditure of a 12 miler.

No way, man! With all due respect, I've done a 1/2 marathon, and Mick might do 6 miles max during a show. He slows down, plays the guitar, takes a break for Keith's bit...He gets a great workout, that's for sure, but he ain't doing a 1/2 marathon every concert. He's great, but not that great. He's definitely very physically fit.

I don't think you've read my post all the way through.

I say that he burns the caloric equivalent of running 12 miles, and that would be during his heyday of highest onstage activity.

the writer overstated it a bit but when you add all these things up,micks is the man.

think of how easy it would be for him to take his foot off the gas

1.just do small shows-hell, he could work half as hard and he doesnt need the money.but how many of us would never get in and would never see the stones live.

2.does he really need that waistline? hey man, kick back..eat,drink allow yourself to gain a bit of weight.you've earned it.but think of the sinking feeling we'd get if we saw a pudgy mick jagger.

3.singing lessons,a trainer, keeping an eye on the bands finances, designing stages?to me this looks alot like a person committed to a persuit of excellence.it would be much easier sitting around reading books, smoking and getting high and/or drunk,no?

but...but..but.. lem..."real men" must climb trees as well...

Jaggers private room back stage is called the WORK OUT. It has an arm chair, a sofa and a TV with cricket channels - and family games on various game boxes. (From Nintendo to X-box and all that stuff.
The WORK OUT is not close to the CAMP X-RAY, which is Keith's back stage quarters. Close to the CAMP X-RAY is the RECOVERY, where Ronnie hangs out. The COTTON CLUB, that's chez Charlie, is sometimes close to Keith, sometimes close to Mick. Then there's LISA FISCHERs room. There's a room for BAND 1 and a room for BAND 2.

There are very specific lists of what kind of furniture, how many seats, lamps, reading light, sturdy racks for clothes, tables for food and drink etc there has to be in every room.
(I know, because I've sometimes furnished back stage and once I provided all the furniture, lamps and fans (for ventilation), the lot.)

At least for the entire ABB, yes. But they tend to give their quarters new names now and then.

I've been told that not only Jagger runs but he rides a lot his VTT as well when he stays in Pocé

I'm pretty sure Mick has a year-round workout routine no matter if there's a tour.

Most certainly, and he gets plenty of sleep.
