OT: Harry Nilsson documentary

had a chance to catch a limited showing of the new Nilsson doc last night at a cool theater in Austin....one noteworthy stones connection: one of the recurring interviewees in the movie was frequent nilsson collaborator, saxist trevor lawrence, who, of course, toured with the lads back in the day. i thought he was pretty cool and articulate in the flick.

very good movie if you're a nilsson fan - or even if you're not - cos this will make you one. an amazing talent and an amazing (albeit too short) life....

I'd like to see this film but who knows in what way it will be visible in Germany?

That's funny, on the way to work today, I heard Cats in the Cradle and couldn't remember how he died....

Confused about who is who and who write what or is that a song from....? could be a thread of it's own.

On July 16, 1981, he had a heart attack while driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway, slowed down in fast-moving traffic, and had his compact car get run over and crushed by an 18-wheeler, which caused it (the car) to burst into flames. I was driving eastbound a short time later, on my way to my job at Newsday, and saw the aftermath of an obviously horrible event in the westbound lanes. When I arrived at work, it was all over the radio that Harry Chapin had died in that accident.

When I arrived at work, I found out that Harry Chapin had died there.

Ironically, he was driving without a license -- it had been revoked for a bunch of previous speeding and other moving violations. He should have never been behind the wheel in the first place. A great songwriter and a great loss.

Back to Mr. Nilsson, looking forward to seeing the documentary.
