It's not in great view or detail here but his deltoids are ruined from all the needles - at least they've always looked that way to me.

In Mac´s book, while hanging around in Keith´s room during the 1978 tour, Keith stuck a needle in his bum, through his jeans, and walked around whit it hanging out of his bum for a while!!!!

i sure wouldn't call those deltoids "ruined" though! marked, maybe ... engraved? :E
by the way, the 1982 shot that skipstone posted is by Charles Robinson - it's from one of the Hannover shows.
here a couple more shots where you can't really see the engraving too well, but ... but here they are anyway:

When first introduced to him by Freddie Sessler in 89 he had a cut-off shirt on and they were quite evident in top of arm/shoulder area.
