I suspect that without Mick Taylor's lead guitar overdub there wouldn't have been such a tremendous outpouring of love for "Plundered My Soul." I'm sure it would have been well-liked enough but that's it. The belief that Taylor's overdub recaptured the magic that was missing for decades and that it was now conceivable that Mick Taylor would rejoin the band largely fueled the praise that particular song received.

I respectly disagree here. I think Taylor's guitar ices the cake nicely but I think the true magic lies under it. The groove of the rhyhmn section - Cha-Bill-Keef-Nicky - each instrument cooked so nicely - and Jagger's vocals rigorously thought through and performed - pronouncing each line with a purpose - just like good ol' times. It is the wholeness of the song that makes the 'trick' for me - each instrument is mixed so delicously to the soap, to change a cooking metaphor. How come it taste so good! thumbs up

I think with "Pass The Wine" the cooking does not right hit the goal. Can't really say now exactly why or how. I need to listen it more (I hadn't for a while). It deserves that. As a track I find it much intersting than any of their racent 'new' stuff.

To ad, Taylor's guitar was the one (and only!) thing that bugged me on this track. It doesn't sound right, and it's edited down to death.

The true magic of the song is Keith, Wyman and Watts interlocking like they only could way back.

Sorry, Rene. I didn't realize you'd done a Track Talk on this one. I'd burn this post if I could and refer to yours.

Just popped in Exile Rarities for the first time in a while.

Jagger's harmonica REALLY stood out on this tune after not hearing it in some time.

Perfect prelude to Plundered My Soul.

BTW: How did PMS NOT make it on to Exile in the first place? It's top shelf!

Always thought it was the worst of the Stones instrumental tracks from Trident Demos, and I think one of the worst on the Exile reissue w/ vocals added. Sorry, but it's quite lame.

No lyrics were written at the time. Mick wrote it for the Exile DeLuxe-release.

So, I don't have it on my original Exile !? Is that a re-issue/re-mastered?

The original Exile is the original, which came out in 1972.

In 1986 the original compact disc LP was released.

In 1993 the original (and best) remastered reissue CD LP was released.

In 2010 the original second remastered CD LP, also known as the Brickwalled Remaster, was released which included extra tracks on a second disc that was available with the reissue or as a stand alone release.
