When I'm looking out my window, baby
And I’m standing by my door
Have you ever had the feeling, baby
That you've been here before

When you're riding motorcycle, baby
In your graveyard world
Have you ever had the feeling, baby
That you've been here before

Honey, I've been lying
Honey, I've been jiving
Honey, I've been signifying
Whoa, whoa, whoa

When you're lying on the ceiling, baby
And gazing on your floor
Have you ever had the feeling, baby
That you've been here before

Honey, I ain’t lying
Honey, I ain’t jiving
And I ain't signifying
Whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa

Produced by Jimmy Miller, Don Was & The Glimmer Twins

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “Exile On Main Street” 2CD
(Universal 273 429-5) UK, May 14, 2010

Love it!! Would have to be one of my favourites from the "new" disc. But I also liked the bootleg version before this came out.

I love both versions. The new has got some amazing piano work by Nicky.
Absolute beautiful blues.

Pretty sure Jagg is playing ELECTRIC not ACOUSTIC guitar on this...there's two guitars: electric rhythm and electric slide. Mick J. and Mick T. are the only two credited with guitars. Jagger has stated that his only modern-day overdub on this song was his harmonica, which means his guitar playing here is vintage.

The LP version blows the bootleg version away, especially the New Orleans obviously influenced piano and horns. Love this tune. Loved the bootlegged version of course but love the full on version even more. It's truly amazing it didn't make the album.

Can't say enough how much I like all these songs. The fact that they are largely exile leftovers, only tells me how unbelievably productive that period was.

Yep.

Great sound, that opens up another journey down a side road of Southern musical culture in Exile's American road trip.

I like it, but I think the unreleased version is much better - the one available on "Hillside Blues" among others.

both are wonderful - I'd say the first one's better but the horns... smiling smiley

When I first heard this track in the car my jaw dropped. It's CRIMINAL that they left this off the album. The horns are so New Orleans it's astounding. And Nicky Hopkins rolling dumpy Jelly Roll-esque piano is fantastic.

Chuck Leavell WISHES he could be that dirty.

Sounds great, I love his harmonica playing on this

I can't think of any Mick's solo on harmonica that wasn't glorious!
he can play a cover of Lady Gaga's hit and still make it sound like it was recorded in Chicago in the 50s.

True..but this latest exile seems to showcase it more, I think.

This is a really great tune... I wonder if the horns are "original" or if they are added in 2010. They are pure genious.
Wonder if the two versions is kind of Rolling Stones with or without Mick Taylor

The only thing added in 2009 was the harmonica. Everything else is original.

nice to have a diff version, but it pales in comparison to the long-available boot version...i like this, though - has a n'awlins feel to it....wonder if the stones decided to put this out knowing it hadn't already made the rounds.

Oh man, this one blows away the boot version!

The boot is unbelievable...never heard it before and I do prefer it.

As much as I enjoy the new version, it makes me wonder why they'd keep this one under wraps.

Are you sure? Mick's vocals sound new to me.

Just going by what I've read here. They sound "original" to me.

There was an interview with Jagger where he said I'm Not Signifying had "some" vocals before. At least the vocals sound very different from the bootleg take. It might be the production though.

Now we're talking!! This is vintage bluesy Stones at it's finest. Jagger really shines here, both vocally and on harp. Although Jagger can over-emote as a singer these days, nobody in their right mind can dispute that he's always been absolutely brilliant on harp, and here is a great example. Nicky's barrel-house piano complements him perfectly here. And those New Orleans horns are delightful ... would really have added another dimension to Exile if included on the original disc!

Seems there is a lot of disagreement about this versus the boot version. I'll take 'em both, thank you very much!

It all sounds very fake to me...vocals, horns, guitars, harp, and especially the editing...I bet they only had a skeloton of a song, and about everything you hear as been added last year. It's just too smooth and too produced to be even remotely from '71.

Watts,Wyman and Taylor sound as the skeloton to me.
