Yeah baby, gonna pulp you to a mass of bruises, 'cause that's what you're lookin' for
There’s a hole where your nose used to be, gonna kick ya outta my door

Gotta get into a fight, can't get out of it
Gotta get into a fight

Gonna blow you to a million pieces, blow you sky high, I don't care
Splatter matter on the bloody ceiling, blow the building right into the air

Gotta get into a fight, I can't get out of it
Gotta get into a fight, gonna put the boot in
Gotta get into a fight, yeah, watch me now

What I want is power, more power, what I need is an innocent life
Wanna do it in the broad daylight, I'm the truck, I'm suicide

Gotta get into a fight, I can't get out of it
Wanna get into a fight, gonna get away with it
Gotta get into a fight, watch me, watch me now

Yeah, I gotta get into a fight, I can't get out of it
I gotta get into a fight, gonna put the boot in

It's all for this greater glory, it's all for a Saturday night
There's a hole where your face used to be, I got you in my telescopic sight

Gotta get into a fight, gonna put the boot in, watch me now, yeah
Yeah, I can't get out of it

Gonna smash your face in, yeah, I’ll slash you with a razor, can’t get out of it

Not one of my favourites - and I cant say that I listen to it everyday. But Dirty Work was the first album I bought, and thats what the Stones gave us at the time.

The guitars are good, but it is not a good song.

One of the best off DW. And one of Keith's best guitar solos to date, imo.

the guitarwork on dirty work was outstanding. weaving at its best. crunchy, powerfull sound and great riffs and licks. the song itself is not so spectacular.

always liked this song, and cant understand the criticisms. great riff, dangerous guitar work - and that solo is just beautifuly nasty.

Ya think? I can think of two or three tunes off of "Bigger Bang" alone (IMO, "Streets Of Love", "Biggest Mistake") that make any of the "Dirty Work" tracks seem like "Jumping Jack Flash" (well...except maybe for "Back To Zero"...) But I'm probably biased: "Dirty Work" has always been one of may favourite Stones albums! Don't think they have another album out there that so divides the fans. Ya either love it or hate it, I suppose.

I think "Fight" is hilarious...Keith and Ronnie were obviously feeling pretty aggro when they came up with that one. And Charlie's "Big 80's Drum Sound" cracks me up every time. As with the rest of the LP, it's a decent song with terrible production.

hmmmm....i'm inclined to agree...but what's it filling? perhaps a rhetorical, existential kinda question, maybe....

It's about nothing,patterns for..

Re: Track Talk: Fight

sharp, ripping guitar licks and riffs bouncing off walls, ceilings and various household items, tight and taunt rhythms--things that usually make good if not great stones songs. but unfortunately Lillywhite's booming '80s production-complete with the annoying gated reverb-ladden drum sound-and jagger singing, more like barking actually-like he has cab downstairs waiting and the meter running-his vocal style was so annoyingly blustery and histrionic on most of DW...It's that combination that flaws much of DW and definitely this song.

"A few times Keith and I felt like killing people, but we picked up our guitars and wrote songs instead. That's how we came up with Fight, I've Had It with You and One Hit (to the Body). We've all been spared long jail sentences by being able to play our music." (Ron Wood)

- and this one sounds like it! An angry track off an angry, angry album. I enjoy it - not as much as One Hit, but I do enjoy it.

Well, it's not filling a spiritual or psychic void in my need to hear great Stones tracks. Not sure what it's filling. It filled the album jacket in a physical sense.

Well, I am not claiming I have deep insight about Dirty Work. I don't think that's possible.

I think I agree with kissinc... that it would be a much better song without the bad production. The drums are ridiculously loud and Mick's throaty singing hurts the tune, but I remember turning it up loud and imagining it would have sounded something like 'Where The Boys Are' or 'Summer Romance' had the drums and vocals been a bit lower in the mix, etc. 'Fight' has the potential. I wish this album could be completely remixed, even re-recorded, because it could have been so much better.

Yes, I wish it could be remixed and re-recorded too, with better songs.

Decent song marred by one of the worst drum sounds ever on a Stones record.

Not one of my favorits, a candidate for the album "The Worst of the Stones", it's also on a album thats among the weakest, altough I LOVE the COVER !!!It's soo Cool and soo Eighties !!

Nope doesn't do much for me. I can hear the great guitars, and that is the only redeemable component to the song. The drums are horrendous! Charlie sounds like he is hitting trash cans in an ally. And Jagger is worse, he seems like he just wanted this entire fiasco over with and mailed in his worst vocals in his career.

Say what you want but a Bigger Bang is a far superior album than Dirty Work, other than Harlem Sguffle and One Hit it is an album full of filler material, the worst thing that the Stones have ever done and Fight and Hold Back top the list!
