Yeah, I don't think they've ever actually owned any of the planes they've used for touring, they've all been leases. That's the case with most bands actually. Led Zeppelin never owned any of the planes they used either. Even the one with with their name painted on it was a rental.

A number of years ago JT had to pay the IRS (public record) over $600,000 in back taxes. Most of this had to do with the way his accountant treated the write offs of his aircraft. I could go into detail on why this is so, but I won't bore you. Many accountants of celeberties are incorrectly advising their clients on what can be written off. The IRS is aggressively going after this issue and prevailing in appeals and in tax court.
