She had to endure the pain of watching her parents go through a bitter break-up after her father ran off with a woman more than 40 years his junior.
So perhaps it's not surprising that Leah Wood, the daughter of Rolling Stone Ronnie and his ex-wife Jo, has emigrated to Australia to make a 'fresh start'.
Miss Wood, 31, moved to Sydney at the end of January with her Australian husband Jack MacDonald, a TV producer, and their nine-month-old daughter Maggie.
Her decision came two months after her parents formalised their divorce.
Speaking publicly for the first time after the move, she said: 'By the end of last year, I was like "I have to get out. I want a new life. A fresh start. Let's just go to Australia".'
Miss Wood insisted that despite being more than 10,000 miles from home, she is not missing her parents or, indeed, any of the Wood clan.
'I'm not missing anyone, and I know that sounds horrible but I'm just enjoying being away,' she said.
'My husband is Australian and I love the lifestyle and the pureness of this city. It's really easy to be organic here. I want the best for my little Maggie.'
Nevertheless, she is keeping in touch with her father, who ran off with Russian cocktail waitress Ekatarina Ivanova in 2008.
She has taught him how to use internet telephone system Skype but admitted she does not know when any of her family would come and visit her.
She told an Australian newspaper:
'I left too quickly to ask anyone to come and visit.
'Teaching my dad Skype was hilarious. He could hear me but I couldn't hear him.
'In the end, I had to phone his mobile and talk him through turning the microphone on. But we sorted it out in the end.'
Miss Wood, who used to be a regular on the London party circuit, now insists that she is more concerned with being a 'good mother', although she does enjoy the occasional night out.
She said: 'I still like to go out and have a boogie. In London, I used to tear up the tiles but I just want to be a good mother.
'Work-wise, I've joined a talent agency called Chic. I've got some ideas for inhome wares.
'I will also be doing some modelling and I love making children's clothes.'
Miss Wood - a model and designer - married Mr MacDonald in June 2008.
The following month, her parents' 23-year marriage collapsed after Ronnie Wood ran off with Miss Ivanova - who was 41 years younger than him.
He had a volatile and very public romance with Miss Ivanova, who he had met in a seedy West End club.
However, they split up last December after he attacked her in the street near their rented house in Claygate, Surrey.
The 62-year-old guitarist - who has a history of drink and drugs abuse - accepted a caution for common assault later that month.
He is now dating Brazilian polo coach Ana Araujo, 30, after meeting her in January.
She is said to have had a positive effect on Wood and especially his drinking.
Former model Mrs Wood, 54, was a contestant on the last series of Strictly Come Dancing last autumn.
