Don't like standin' in the snow, everything's turning to gold
Everything's turning to gold, everything's turning to gold
Everything's turning to gold, everything's turning to gold, well

You used to know me long ago, was so lost and way down low
Now that the love juice start to flow, now that the love juice start to flow
Everything's turning to gold, everything's turning to gold

Everything's turning, everything is turning, everything's turning, turning, turning
Everything's turning, everything is turning, everything's turning, turning, turning
Everything's turning, everything is turning to gold

Yeah baby, I'm tired, I'm tired of doing what I'm told, things are moving way too slow
And I ain’t got no problems, got no problem, child
It ain't my business, it ain't my business, it ain't my style
Now that the love juice start to flow, tell ya, now that the love juice start to flow
Now that the love juice start to flow, everything's turning to gold
Everything's turning to gold, everything’s turning, everything is turning

Yeah, down low, come on baby, come on, let’s go

Everything's turning, everything is turning, everything's turning, turning, turning
Everything's turning, everything is turning, everything's turning, turning, turning
Everything's turning, everything is turning, everything's turning, turn, turn, turning
Everything is turning

I love this song. Has that characteristic reggae-disco touch of the first RW years. 100% diferent from the first 70s music, a new group. I love all the eras of this group

A true killer!

The change of pass around the 3.30 mark is a KO uppercut

That and whip live always made sucking in the 70's my fav compilation

Oh my god. When this song came out on the b-side of Shattered I thought the Stones were truly heading into bold new territory. It was such a natural follow up to Black And Blue and so black. Kind of reminded me a bit of a cross between The Meters and The Isley Brothers. I so wish they'd progressed with this style and made an album of this kind of material.

The song has more changes and dynamics than one remembers. Everytime this song comes around I am always struck how good it is. The ending pick-up at around 3:28 reminds me of the ending of "Hand of Fate' where the drums kick in the afterburners for one last gearchange.

Great song! There's a 10 min outtake version i could listen to the whole day (like Munich Hilton, Dancing Girls).

Btw, any one else think it's just Mick and Ronnie on guitar, no Keith?

"Music is the frozen tapioca in the ice chest of history."

I thought that the opening line was "How could a good love turn/go cold?"

Anyone else?

I must take another listen.

Great song! Very loose, too loose to even be funky. smiling smiley
Style wise, I don't think it's too far from the rest of their late 70s era music. But it's pretty original in its own way.

An utterly brilliant track. One of the most underrated recordings of their entire career. I absolutely love that bit mentioned above where it kicks back in around 3:30.

Never knew the mighty Simon Kirke from Free and Bad Company ever played with the Stones!

next time they're pondering what song to do on their way to the B-stage
they really should consider this one - it would be perfect for that role

i'm tired i'm tired of doin what i'm told ... ahhh yeah
i love the Rolling Stones

I wished they would have done less editing of the track - they really hacked it up with the editing! Whatever - great tune and one of my faves ever since a girlfriend got me Sucking In The Seventies. It's amazing they didn't put it on Some Girls in place of something tepid like Respectable or Just My Imagination...

Silver Dagger, why the Si Kirke reference?

And I would second what someone else suggested - quite likely Jagger on rhythm here.

I've always considered SG to be primarily a Jagger/Woods album. Jagger certainly getting more inspiration from Ronnie than Keith. Effectively he swapped Taylor for Wood to 'feed' off.

AGREE with the consesus here (consensus on IORR? could it be?), great track. And as liddas and others have mentioned the ramp-up at 3:30 really makes the track. Charlie is thwacking that snare man!

Question for all you lyric-readers. What's Mick on about on this one?

"Now that the love juice start to flow, now that the love juice start to flow
Everything's turning to gold, everything's turning to gold"

Sounds like he's talking about taking a pee...winking smiley

i remember not liking it much when i first got Sucking in the 70's when it first came out, but I was still a youngin and didn't know any better.

I love it now.

Better than a good 3-4 songs off of Some Girls (which I love), I always felt this would have fit better with the songs off of Emotional Rescue (many of course were recorded at the same sessions) than if they had actually put it on Some Girls...

Such a great groove/shuffle by the rhythm section!

>> Question for all you lyric-readers. What's Mick on about on this one? <<

Ronnie came up with the title/chorus phrase, inspired by the birth of his son Jesse.
Mick wrote the verses and they appear pretty plainly to be about
not caring that someone's love has grown cold - he's found love in someone else's home,
and he's tired he's tired of doing what he's told ... and so on. freaking great track

i love the Rolling Stones

possibly their best B-side...and better than quite a few album tracks, IMO.
