Book : Rolling Stones en Espana

I spent few days in Barcelona and found a book in a second hand vinyl shop: "The Rolling Stones en Espana" at about 40 Euros. Didn't buy it as I don't know it and think I can find it cheaper.

Anybody know this book and has info?

Hello straycat from Madrid,

I have not read it but I will paste you the table of contents as seen in internet.
I think only point one needs translation into english:

1. Cuando los Rolling Stones eran una amenaza. La España del franquismo y la censura (1962-1975) = when RS where a threat. Spain in Franco´s Era and censorship (1962-1975).
2. Barcelona, Junio de 1976
3. Madrid, Julio de 1982
4. The Urban Jungle Tour: Junio de 1990, Barcdelona, Madrid
5. Voodoo Lounge Tour: Gijón Julio de 1995
6. Bridges to Babylon tour 1998: Málaga, Vigo, Barcelona
7. No Security Tour: Santiago de Compostela, Junio de 1999
8. Licks Tour 2003: Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Benidorm, Zaragoza
9. A bigger bang tour 2007: Barcelona, Donostia, Madrid, El Ejido
10. De la A a la Z = from A TO Z
11. Discografía, videografía y miscelánea

462 pages with black and white picture (acording to other web it has 258 pages). The writer is Mariano Muniesa, a stones fan who works at a major radio station. He has conducted a heavy metal program on sunday nights for several years and has also written about The Who and about the Punk Movement.

If you cant speak spanish the value of the book would come out of the pictures so...it is currently a mistery if it is a worthy buy. On the other hand 40 euros is not a fortune.

I agree 40 € is not a fortune now that I know what's inside and looks interesting but sometimes there're books which are lousy and cost the same.
I can speak spanish; can you pass me the link at which you refer? I made a search on google but couldn't find it.

BTW: there were plenty of new boots in the Taller shops, although I stopped to buy vinyl boots years ago.

I saw it on Fnac shop and: great and a hard cover + too much pictures= 40 euros. Yes, not a fortune but the regular musical-books use to cost 20 euros (more or less). Still didn´t read it BUT knowing that Mr. Muniesa is a hard core fan and after read his two previous books about Stones: "Viaje al infierno"(1992) and "Rolling Stones"(1995), I´m sure this will not be an objetive book: you know, everything the Stones did in Spain will be GREAT at any case, don´t doub it. And about Spanish Discography apart you can be sure that is mistaken and NOT completely: just only one example is that Hang Fire/Neighbours single never was released in Spain, only in U.S. And a french cover of Have you seen yor mother... is on the book instead the spanish cover. At any rate I´m sure I´ll buy it when 40 euros not been a fortune for me like know.

I bought this book about two weeks ago in Sevilla, and I have to say its a great book, for those who knows spanish,it got some great stories about the Stones in Spain, like the one I just read now, from Bill Wyman , who didnt to book a hotel room, because of the spanish law that forbid him to take womens to his room unless if he was married with them, so he rented a house instead

I bought the book yesterday: I didn't have time to read it yet, but I read the last pages dedicated to the spanish discography and discovered that is a direct copy of the discography we helped to do on this forum some months ago:
.... even with the same mistakes!!!

For sure he copied it directly from us... I have to take a look to see if he talk about this forum for helping him with the discography section.spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Finish reading it this weekend so I can give you my opinion:
I have the author's previous book and although it has the problem that is too fanatical and therefore their opinions are not very independent; it was very well written and I especially liked what he wrote linking the Stones and Spain...
In this new book, you have this connection but investigated in much greater depth.
I collected all the articles I could find in Spain on the relation of the stones with Spain and I must say that in this book I have learned many things I did not know.
Of course, also have left out some interesting stories.
The only trouble is, as I said before, that last chapter on discography, that could have been infinitely better, but I guess it could not expect that topic on iorr to end, given the date of publication.
By the way: names this forum several times.
Highly recommended!!!!
the best thing of the book: the pictures.

Bought this book for 25 EUR in Barcelona. If you happen to be there watch out, there were serveral dealers offering it for that price, at least on the "day of the book". Many photos all over, most of them coloured, some photos from 76 are not good quality.

It looks the item is going out of print so this looks like the last opportunity to buy it at a reasonable prive.
