What about Chuck Berry?

I think it's unlikely the Stones will want to fire Ronnie. I'm sure it's not as simple as a phone call from Michael Cohl 'Hi Ronnie, sorry, but you're fired' there will be legal implications involved and if Ronnie has got a half decent lawyer/manager it could cost them a lot of money. There is no doubt that Mick will not be amused by Ronnie's current behaviour and I doubt that Keith is over the moon about it either. I guess the order 'get him into rehab' will be issued before the proposed tour is finalised. It appears the 'silly little Russian girl' isn't pressing charges so I doubt whether this latest indiscretion will end up in court and will be largely forgotten about before any tour will start, however, if Ronnie doesn't smarten up his act and ditch her soon then I fear even Mick's patience will be sorely tested. It's obvious via the rumours that a tour/album is being planned and will no doubt be billed as 'The 50th Anniversary Tour' I'm sure Mick/Keith want to do this, not chiefly for financial reasons (O.K. they're not going to turn the cash down) but more of a we are the only band to have done this for 50 years which, after all, is some achievment. I do fear that Ronnie's current state could jeopardise these plans, although he isn't an original member, he is now seen as a Rolling Stone rather than a hired hand. Maybe they would shelve plans for a full tour and do some selected shows around the World in a couple of years time to mark the 50th. I hope not. As regards a replacement - I don't know. Jimmy Rip...Mick likes him, does Keith? Waddy Watchel.... Keith likes him, does Mick? Mick Taylor...is he healthy enough? I believe Clapton/Beck are too much artists in there own right to be considered even if they wanted to do it, which I doubt. I'm sure Slash would do it and be pretty cool but I think he might be little 'over the top' for both Mick and Keith. What about Jack White?

Well, quite obviously he's fit and healthy enough to do it, but I don't think Michael Cohl or Mick would be over the moon about giving him several thousand pounds/dollars in a plastic bag before each gig. Anyway, he'd punch Keith out every time he played a bum note!

Mick will tell Ronnie to get his finger out of a certain part and pull hís life back in shape if he wants to tour wit Stones in 2010.
That's probably enough. Mick's though when is necessary.

I've read most of the so far 16 pages of comment on this story - amazingly different attitudes.

Comes down to this (IMHO) - the guys an alcoholic, (always will be), flattered by a young attractive female offereing attention and sex (like he hasn't had it for 40 odd years), that's powerfull. Infatuation takes over and the relationship becomes more serious. He is now out of control, the situation is out of control, he lashes out in frustration over his own feelings and hers..

I would go and see Eric Clapton if I was him, he's only down the road. Eric came back from the abbyss - and time is running out for Ronnie. He may not have the answer Ronnie wants to hear, but tea total for him is ,sadly, the only way.

I for one wish him luck - the key is in his drinking, that's all.

whens his new solo album comin out? did it come out already?
i am interested in ron ONLY in a historical context with Faces and certain Stones tours...as far as the history goes...

i am interested in ron in the present only when he manages to once again be an exciting invetive guitar player....or writer...etc....

he's dropped the ball for a long time now...charming little drunk like a geek at this point...he took an amazing track record and so much respect as a musician and pretty much trashed it cynically and greedily. i don't read the tabloids. i don't care. interesting that this thread so well read and popular. it's bascially nothing to do with the stones...sorta like his (brilliant!) 'guest' solos on ABB.

if this is a 'slam' on poor wel loved ronster, i care not...i'm about rock and roll. i need it support it live it appreciate it...he's becoming more and more of an inconsequential footnote with theyears...and an actual embarassment, tho he dosen't personally seem to give a shit.

this is the nadir...this is the band that wanted to show others how you can keep rocking and be legit waaaay into your life and career...(according to kr INTErviews.....of days past)...

by this standard they have not met their own goals in too many recent instances and for years before that...
they let themselves down, successively and progressively...
business has never been better. freakin' tweakers always exploding into bullshit. that's what they do.. that's was addiction does....

poor ronnie....????
he's turned into a 'lovable puppy' "holding the band together" (i never bought that, ron could be gone and the stones could roll on...he's mostly playing watered down versions of taylors original parts anyway....
with a greedy personal lifestyle...and mega millions for bein' a mediocre to disappointing replacement player...
that's the way this and other circumstances are making me feel. evn tho i saw faces at fillmore east circa 71 and it was ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING shows I've ever seen to this day..great git playing...bass w jeff beck? classic for all time...

he's got the resume but more and mor bullshit adds up...he wears cute rock girly clothes and has excellent trademarked and patented rock 101 shag cut...he dont show much more imo...
and we grovel at the trough here like detectives or teenage girls about tabloid behavior from overentitled over enrichened lazy destructive ultimately cynical peeple...
one love...heh heh

great post, Turd! you nailed it elegantly.

I was just writing something like yours but it was growing into a tome (succinctness is a challenge for me), now don't have to.

@ Midnight Toker and shortfatfanny.

lets get over this, quick.
in Germany it's a bad idea to call someone "Bimbo" - unless you are right-wing-minded, don't appreceate the colour of the skin and the ethnic background.
in short, neo nazis use that as an insult^^

the word "bimbo" had a different meaning for me when I heard it in a different context - about the hired bimbos at the Beacon Theatre for instance. ha.
usually blonde, young & good looking (at least for Scorseses cameras) who know nothing about the Stones.

In both cases, someone who uses these words tries to elevate his/her position to something higher, better, superior or stlt.

what was the proper name for the SAL folks? hired extras? hmm....
