Kent, I don't know that he's a great guitar player any more. I'm not sure that he ever was. Great musician and unique talent, yes. I know that he has been a musical embarrasment on too many occasions in recent tours.
Ron may be a better social fit than Brian or MickT. that's principally why he's in the Stones and why they've stayed together. But no question in my mind when the Stones were at their peak live musically.
What I find odd is how so many can moralise about Ron's reputed behaviour while I assume most of the same people love the Midnight Rambler, a song which it's hard not to associate with sexual violence - in fact which owes its existence to it.

Well to me it's not so far fetched to have Mick T's name in this discussions, for a couple of reasons. The first one is that Ronnie doesn't seem to be mentally fit for an agonising Stones trip round the world during 2 years of time. If he should be on the wagoon then Mick would have to have a couple of guys watching Ronnie constantly for alcohol abuse.
The second reason is that Mick T knows the Stones music and their roots. He can play guitar like ever before. Mick T is a Rolling Stones in abscense in my mind. He would carry the burden of being in the Stones better now than he did when he joined in 1969. He was too young and now he's a grown up man with which I guess far better values than beating up a young woman.
He will fast adapt to the Stones music again. Don't think he ever forgot it.
So let's have Mick T in the band and leave Ronnie in the clinic, so he can straighten out his life and become a great rock and roller again. Because in these days he is not. And the demand for a great new Stones record and tour is too big to be spoiled by lawsuits and domestic problem.
I don't mean to be harsh on Ronnie but it's time he cleaned up the shit he's in right now and come back to a great life, cause he, his kids and Jo needs it to be that way. And Kat needs to get away from this and go find a younger guy who can treasure her for other reasons than Ronnie does.

I know some people with the same problem as Ronnie goes thru. Not many of them have had the chance to get into a solid rehab with great specialists to work with them. Now Ronnie has got that chance and really should admit his problem to himself, because that's the first and biggest step back to a healthy life!
His life doesn't get better by leaving a family and a secure life with them in a lovely, comforting environment. I feel really sad for Ronnie, but at the same time, he has been in rehab before and got back from the abuse. Now it seems that he has been letting go of everything, even the job in the Greatest Rock and Roll Band. It seems he just doesn't care anymore. That's why something needs to be done!

Midnight Rambler was based on the REAL case of the Boston Strangler - and Jagger got some of the lyrics directly from this case -
I know I'm being a bit lateral - but we do love the song largely because of its yrics - and the highpoint was Jagger's onstage enactment of a vicious belting of a woman btw -powerful esp with Keith's rhythm 'lashings' - kind of liberating - releasing (safely?) something that is probably in us all? -

According to the Associated Press report it happened openly in the high street...not even behind closed doors. The guy was be in a really bad way. One would hope that Keith and Mick will be on the blower to sort him out. There's no one else around to check him into rehab although I guess deep down Jo still cares for the father of her children.

We don't know the real story yet and may never. things that go on between a couple are strange things indeed. Really, we should reserve judgement until we know what happened, if anything.
As for a Stones tour............enough already!!! They aren;t even in the studio and there is no talk of another greatist hits package so what will they tour behind???

Perhaps we should all face facts and acknowledge that the guitarists can't play anymore, Ron Wood can't FUNCTION any more, and there seems no point in another stadium tour, which will only harm their legacy. It gives me no pleasure to say this.

I saw Mick Taylor a couple of years back. Seldom have I seen something so sad. He was drunk, played wrong and was completely out of it.
If The Stones took HIM back, they would sink without a trace. He just can't cut it anymore.

I doubt rehab will do him any good, how many times have he been to rehab now? Now a days it's in and out in 30 days or something. It's like rehab (for celebrities) has gotten popular or something.
And I doubt that Mick T will be a good replacement. Is he in a shape that will allow him to tour for 2 years? Can he play anymore? And I doubt that Mick J will have him back after Mick T's complaining about money and credits.
And for these eyewitnesses, how far away do you have to be to not see that the guy was Ronnie Wood? And according to the Daily Mail Kat wouldn't press charges. All of this is completely reprehensible behaviour even by rock star standards. For one he shouldn't be with this Lolita and two he's a serious alcoholic at 62 without the class or sense to keep it reasonably hidden. I think he's got to go and a new guitarist might light a fire under the rest of the band for the new tour. Why not a revolving cast of guitar players? Not an open audition but star turns from Wayne Perkins, Eric Clapton, Tom Verlaine, Robert Randolph, Jeff Beck and yes even the polarizing maestro Mick Taylor. Ronnie doesn't get it and never will, regardless of the charges before him.

I know I'm being a bit lateral - but we do love the song largely because of its yrics - and the highpoint was Jagger's onstage enactment of a vicious belting of a woman btw -powerful esp with Keith's rhythm 'lashings' - kind of liberating - releasing (safely?) something that is probably in us all? -

It is so simple...He is a lost soul. Ronnie has been a druggie and alcoholic for way to many years. The rule is to be cool and not an obnoxious moron when you partake in that lifestyle. Something triggered him to officially leave his wife. We all know he has been sleeping with other women throughout the tours. But this time he has decided that Kat is better than Jo. His choice. But the walls have come tumbling down. The psychology is that by his choices and actions he has finally realized that he made a major F up and needs to get rid of that chick. The only way he knows is to drink and drug. If he was with Jo, it would be just another day. Things escalate when drunk and God knows how much intake of booze he had in himself. Get back to the Islands Man, Ronnie needs to really find himself. \m/
