...Where are these pics from Pascal? French mags?

Thanks Tony, for your comment think we're agreed .
Some came from UK Press archives, some other from magazines, some other from a site who sell original framed pictures of photographers and to be complete some others from Ebay.Looks easy, but I can't tell ya how much hours I've spent to take a hand on this least documented era, but no complain, it's a treat and a passion thumbs up smiley

I love the Leeds review for stating that Jagger was a parody in 1971. I know if we dig deep enough we'll find a review from the Crawdaddy Club complaining that the Stones aren't what they were at the Bricklayers Arms and that Jagger's vocals are nasal and mannered.

Well, they were seen as being old hat by 1970 and in a way the hiring of Taylor and the introduction of horns etc onstage did sow the seeds for the live "vegas era". grinning smiley

The hiring of Taylor helped sow the seeds for the "Vegas Era"? I don't understand that at all. I mean, I understand what you're saying about the horns and all. But Taylor? I don't see anything "Vegas" about him. He's probably the least "show biz" like of any Stone.

I know you're anti-Taylor but I don't think any one can blame the "Vegas era" on him.

I guess that it is the fact that they continued when a founding member died. That's a bit like letting Blondie play guitar because Wood and Richards can't cope anymore.

Maybe that's the point HM is trying to make, but I don't think that's the same thing at all. Remember, Brian was fired and replaced by Taylor. He was already out of the band when he died. And Brian by most accounts really couldn't play much by then anyhow and he couldn't get a visa to tour. So should they just go on as a one guitar band or replace him? In '69 they were still a vital working band, and today they're a nostalgia act living on their legend.

I mean, if you wanted to look at it that way, you could say the very first seed of the "Vegas Era" was sown when Andrew Oldham insisted Ian Stewart not be an official member of the group.

I think that photo comes from 1970, allthough I don't know which show.
Maybe same concert as this one? Allthough one of the photos must be reversed; if that's the proper expression

Thanx again for pics and all!

That 2. photo by Berrety is just a little part of pics from that 1970 concert.

I think I saw them first in the great D. Dalton book "An unauthorized Bio in Words, Photos and Music" from 72. Could be from Paris but you can identify them by the uniforms of the Cops on stage

Reg. the Leeds article and Stones doing an encore. Is it known how often they did the Let it rock encore on the 71 British tour? I think not more than 3 or 4 times . . ?

Edit: While I wrote Honestman posted one of those pics. But there are more . .

Just took a look at that nice link. So it seems to be sveden.
I remember the first 70' European gig in Malmö of which some said it was a kind of try-out gig. However, - no big success. Ca. 3000 people and not even sold out!

Btw. I have the book from the link. Looks very nice. But unfortunately I could never a read a thing. So I missed that great story from the guy taking the Stones home to his parents to hear some Berry.Different times . .

It looks like the Swedish gig. I thought it might have been a French show because of the photographer's name, and also Jagger's clothes (rather fancy). But the police look Swedish, and after seeing the Viking -link looks Swedish. Also Bobby Keyes's clothes are the same.

LOL, I have the book too. Damndest thing - I was confident I'd be able to plow my way through the Swedish text w/ enough Stones-ian motivation, but nada...
