What do you think about "We love you" as an opener or second encore? It's a song for the fans and I think it would be a nice idea to perform this song. I know it's absurd but what's your opinion?

I think it is almost impossible to play that live properly

Look what they did with "2000 LYFH" in 89/90.

Really underrated classic.
Should have made the cut on 40 Licks.

Ilove this tune...its strange and strong..with a lot of tension..the stadiums sure would dig it...as the opener...of course!!!chances are sadly zero.

You're right "monkey man" they also played "She's a rainbow" live. It would be interesting to hear the Band's opinion. It's still interesting to read the fans opinions.

Would have been perfect for the visual and musical overkill of the Steel Wheels tour. Technically it seems no problem to play it live.

Its alright to me nothing more. This is clearly one of those songs that hardcore fans love & it just doesn't do it for me. Makes me wonder whose right & wrong? I give it only a C- but it'd be interesting as hell to hear it attempted live. If they felt couldn't come off to the caliber they'd like they should at least play the music background as opener like continental drift. MEZ

Well, I don't think Chuck has any problem pulling that off. It would be great - that song has both swing and a mystic feeling to it - Go for it!

Its such a spaced out....jailhouse...hippie rocker..the way mick sings it...is so wild..and you hear Brian Jone all over this tune,and the beatles!!Yeah it would work...of course..indeed!!!

About "We Love You". It is a fantastic track; and of course the Stones will never play it. But I have done this one myself with a band. The main lick is actually very easily transposed onto guitar. It is a typical kind of rockin guitar line. So this one IMHO works very easily on stage with a guitar band. The hard thing would be the vox; but with bernard and Lisa it would not be hard. It's too bad that we wil;l never hear it. On SW and NS tour they were open to all these ideas.

The Knack did a pretty acceptable live version of this back in the late 80's.
Blew my mind to see them do it! 2000 Light years on the Steel Wheels tour was the highlight of the tour for me - I NEVER thought they'd do it! But they had something to prove then, coming back from the precipise of band meltdown....

I think its a great Stones song and also think it should have been on forty licks because regardless of what you think of it musically it is a signifigant landmark in their history in view of the court cases etc.

And if they can play 2000 Light Years From Home live I would have thought they could play We Love You.

It's a great, great song, but I can't see how it's work live. 2000 Light Years did of course, but there are other reasons aside from those musical as to why they probably wouldn’t attempt it. That song is SO 1967 and there drugs bust. The song was devised as a "thank you" to all their loyal fans and I don't think that whole thing would translate today. I think it's best left there.

Yes I suppose your right Big Al it is synoymous with 1967 and the song may not be so relevant today for them to play it live.

Still think it should be on 'forty licks' so a new generation of fans can hear it, as it is a great song and was a hit record. But then again I suppose the die hard Stones fan doesn't need to buy 'forty licks' to hear it.

Glad you see my point maine road. Jagger thinks along the same lines too. The only reason they attempted 19th Nervous Breakdown on this tour (just the once?) was because they re-worked it to sound more modern. Jagger thought the original was "dated". In a way, musically, We Love You is too and it really doesn’t sound anything like the Stones we know to day. I really think we'd here more oldies if Jagger didn’t have any age hang-ups.
