Bernard was just trying to be nice to the local fans and was probably sick of hearing Stones questions. Very little chance of it actually happening.

Why little chance of it happening????

If you want to see the Stones really work a crowd and perform to their max you need to catch a show at the River Plate.Hell,if they plan gigs here again, count me in.

I can't see any reasons why they won't play here.

The Rolling Stones to return to Argentina in 2010

The singer Bernard Fowler, Rolling Stones’ historic chorus man, said that the emblematic band would return to Argentina next year.

It would be the band’s fourth visit in the country to play along with its Argentine band (Pilo Gomez, Gonzalo Lattes, Chucky from Ipola Fabian Von Zorrito Quintiero and Melena Sanchez) in Niceto next Friday, with whom it keeps presenting Friends with privileges, their last album.

Fowler confirmed that the Rolling Stones plan to return in 2010: “I’m going to return here next year, to play in a much bigger place, as the opening gig before the Rolling Stones, at the beginning of their new world tour”, and hje added: “It’s not so long for next year!”

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts came to the country for the last time in 2006, along with “Bigger Bang Tour”. Fowler has been the band’s chorus man for the past 20 years.

I once saw a Sports Illustrated poll that rated the 10 must see sporting
events in the world, and Bocas vs River in La Bombonera came at #1.

I'm sure that if this poll gets done for music events, The Stones at River Plate
will top it. It's a most. Fans like no other.

I didn't say they would'nt play in Argentina. But Bernard was quoted as saying that the Stones would open their tour in Argentina in June. That is what has very little chance of happening. Opening the tour in South America in June.

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

Bernard didn´t say "the stones will back"... he said "it´s a possibility. I would like back to Argentina with the Stones next year".
But he didn´t say "the stones will back".

What are the odds of the Stones starting off in Latin America this time and leaving the august US kick off behind?

(I would welcome ANY change in the Vegas routine!)

Perhaps they plan on kicking off in the southern hemisphere in late summer then coming up north in the spring?

Could be, could be. The enthusiasm in Latin American arenas would make for a great promo video to support the rest of the tour.

Very unlikely, IMHO.

It wouldn't be late Summer in Argentina.

It wouldn't be late Summer in Argentina.

That would mean March 2010 in South America - and then US in May.
They rather announce it fast - if that's the case.

That would be too soon.
Anytime between November and April for South America is my guess.

they will, and for several reasons, most of them economic.

1) The tour is most likely to make a profit sooner if it starts in the US
2) With a tour which has a high ticket price, it needs all the media attention it can get - a tour starting outside of the two main markets (North America and Europe) will cause barely a ripple.
3) Starting a tour in South America in the summer of 2010 - when the World Cup is on (even though its in South Africa) - will see the Stones having a counter attraction that they cant compete with. They had the same problem in Europe in 1990, 1998 and 2006.
4) Unlike Europe, the football season in Argentina runs from February - December. There's usually a short break around July, I think, which is the only logical timeframe
5) Its unlikely that the Stones would be ready to tour that early (if they're going to have a record finished in time)
