Dangerous Beauty
(Mick Jagger / Keith Richards)

La Fourchette, Pocé sur Cisse, France & St. Vincent, West Indies,
June - September 2004, La Fourchette, Pocé sur Cisse, France,
November - December 2004, March 7 - 9 & March 14 - June 2005 and
Ocean Way Recording Studios, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, US,
June 6 - 28, 2005

Mick Jagger - vocals, electric guitar, bass
Keith Richards - electric guitar
Charlie Watts - drums
Chuck Leavell - organ

In your high school photo you look so young and naïve
Now I heard you got a nickname, the lady with the leash
Was it funny on the midnight shift, I bet you had your fair share of stiffs
They were onerous orders, I gotta admit

'Cause you're a dangerous, dangerous, a dangerous beauty
It’s so painfully plain to us you're doing your duty

Who you got there in that hood, you look so fancy in those photographs
With your rubber gloves on, you're a favourite with the Chiefs of Staff
You're doing such a wonderful job, you're a natural at working with dogs
Keeping everyone awake at night with a touch of the prods

Well, you're a dangerous, dangerous, a dangerous beauty
Yeah, disdainfully, painfully, beating up booty, yeah
You're a dangerous, dangerous, a dangerous beauty, beauty, everybody knows

Well, you're a dangerous, dangerous, a dangerous beauty
If I was your captain, would you salute me
Well, you're a dangerous, dangerous, a dangerous beauty
What I say, yeah everybody, beauty, everybody now, yeah
Are you one bad apple in a box, yeah, dangerous
Dealing out electric shocks, I've seen the gloves are coming off
Dangerous
If looks could be killing, I bet you would shoot me

Produced by Don Was & The Glimmer Twins

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “A Bigger Bang” CD
(Virgin Records / EMI TOCP 66440) Japan, August 31, 2005

sorry to start with a critical comment, but this tune is one of the lame ABB songs that make the album too long and boring!

hm, I think it´s one of the better tracks.
I wonder who plays the organ. That is not listed in the booklet

really bad song. Could be in a solo project of Mick.

I think this is one of the better songs on ABB . The dual guitar leads and drum groove are top-notch!

one of my faves
i thought it was funny that Sweet Neo Con was getting all the anti-Bush publicity, and this snuck under the radar

I love it and Driving Too Fast.

Best riff on any Stones song in decades.

best song on the album next to 'Laugh I nearly Died'

Funny and biting lyric. A pity that more attention was focussed on the cringeworthy lyrics of Sweet Neocon and this song was all but ignored.

A shame that the Stones didnt have the balls to play it live.

I agree with Gazza, the riff in the song is incredible, on of the best one!

It's about that Lynndie England chick at Abu Ghraib, yes? Calling her a "beauty" is intended ironically, yes?

A solid groovy track with a great solo, it hits you when you listen to it. It would have worked well live, after seeing photos of Keith Richards in shape there might be hope that it will be played during a future tour.

Parts of the riff is very much based on what Keith plays on YGMR. Sounds like he even forgets he's not playing YGMR a couple of times in there winking smiley Great track! Stellar vocals from Jagger.

Great tune. Some killer riffing going on. It is a shame it never got to live on stage.

Its certainly sarcastic, anyway. I guess 'Dangerous Pig With Lips' wouldnt have rolled off Mick's tongue quite so easily.

It's a great song on a great Album. Love it.
Every Stones CD should be that long or even longer !

COMPLETELY DISAGREE!!

thats another reason why i hate cd's. an lp had 10 max. 12 songs. if not it was a double album. but a double album was a statement. but nowadays people expect 14-18 songs on a cd. for the result we all know....fillers a gogo....
it's just a collection of too many songs.
reduce to the max, thats the formula. thats what gives an album a face, a character, direction!

I love the comments smiling smiley)
great groovy tune IMHO.

+1

but actually no wonder - it's Mick's one.

My thoughts exactly. Dangerous Beauty and Laugh, I Nearly Died were two of the better and certainly most interesting songs on the record and were completely ignored on the tours.

Great riff, a political statement and a Keith solo,
that sounds like B.B. King.

This one took its time to grow on me, but I love the riff - and who else would create a song like this about a subject like that? I'd like to hear them try this one live.

horrible . the worst song from ABB....

Re: Track Talk: Dangerous Beauty

The organ is either Don Was or Chuck Leavell; I'd guess the latter.

Wouldn't say it's about Lynndie England specifically. Mick, rather brilliantly, took off from that notorious picture and crafted a fictious femme-fatale figure, with political commentary slipped through the back door.

great sound plus a smart & mean lyric - it's the Rolling Stones! :E

( ... but it's "onerous odours", isn't it? not "onerous orders" )

it's free of any musical idea...one of the "emptiest" stones songs...

"Best riff on any Stones song in decades"

Certainly a song I can play several times in a row.
Hasn't happened to me since... ER?

at the beginning it didn´t like it too much, but after a little while, it started to grow on me....now i think it is one of the best songs on ABB (even if i still like IWTL, DTF and LIND more...)

One of the very best tracks on the album, with Back Of My Hand
Simple, straight, very efficient and catchy

Pure Rolling Stones
