Hey, what am I doing standing here on the corner of
West 8th Street and the 6th Avenue and - you’re asking me?
Nothing, Keith, watcha, watcha doing
Oh, I think the time has come to get out, get out
Get up, get out, get into something new
Get up, get out, into something new

Ooh, and it's got me moving, got me moving, honey
Ooh, and it's got me moving, yeah
Ooh, and it's got me moving, yeah, it’s getting up, yeah, it’s getting already
Ooh, and it's got me moving

My my my my, my my my, my my my, my my my
The poor man eyes a rich man, denigrates his poverty
The rich man loves a poor man and envies his simplicity
Get up, get up, into something new
Get up, get out, down, down into something new

Ooh, and it's got me moving
Ooh, and it's got me moving, yeah
Ooh, and it's got me moving, yeah
Ooh, and it's got me moving
Ooh, and it's got me moving

Yeah, get up, get up, get out, into something new
Yeah, all, woncha all, woncha all, woncha all, oh, still could stand accused

Umm, what can I say about it other than it was track one on my walking playlist back in 2007, and thanks to listening to it so many times during said walking, I'll never listen to it again.

parts one and two should been mixed into one version

Rnene' you should put Part 1 and Part II after the musician info.
Great chunk of New York coke dance scene. Great hook, with some trance like guitar riffs. Love the interplay at the beginning when Jagger yells.."Hey Keif...!" and you can hear Keif howell in response. I loved how they put out Pt. II on Sucking in the 70's. The main reason I bought that album. And the cover! The sub par Ronnie recent live DVD (Far East Man) has a pretty lame version on it. The Licks version was so so, but not enough grit on the riffs. Love them both and glad they are separate, it makes them more strange.

Great song which nicks the riff from Trampled Underfoot.

Well it's not one of my favorits, but it's one of the VERY few Stones song where one og the boys are mentioned in the lyrics.
Are the any other ?
We have: ..Charlie my boy.. in "Down the Road Apice"

can't recalled any other...

>> can't recalled any other... <<

Little By Little and Bitch ... excuse the digression!

"I saw Dance as more of an instrumental, like Junior Walker's Shotgun.
And Mick immediately came up with reams of paper and lyrics.
I thought it should be a minimal lyric, and Mick comes up with Don Giovanni."
- Keith Richards, quoted on [www.timeisonourside.com]

Superb track, imo. Some of the finest guitar playing and weaving Keith and Ron ever did.

Fantastic track which SHOULD have been a smash on the UK dancefloors.

Had it been the lead single from ER, it might well have been.

I love the first few lines when Mick is talking to Keith...........

Not sure they adequately pulled it off on the 02-03 TOUR.

One of the absolutely superfluous tracks, Stones go Disco, that's a job for John Travolta and Olivia Newton John etc. No melody, bad rhythm, boring repetitions ... musical crap, sorry.

Dont know if its exactly the same take (if thats what youre saying) with a new vocal (if so, its a new one on me - there's a Part 3 as well called 'Wish A Woman' which is just instrumental) but I much prefer Mick's performance on 'If I Was A Dancer'.

part 2

If I Was A Dancer (Dance Part 2)
(Jagger/Richards)

I stand accused of talking
But I feel that we are falling
In the same old groove
The radio is playing
Spitting out the same old news

It's time to get up, get out
Get out into something new
Time to get up, get out
Out into something new

Everybody wants somebody's fantasy
Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams
Everybody wants somebody's fantasy
Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams

If I was a woman, I would want a new man every night
If I was a woman, I would want a new man every night
If I was a politician, make sure I was the best in sight
If I was a woman, I would want a new man every night

The poor man eyes the rich man
Denigrates his poverty
The rich man eyes the poor man
And envies his simplicity

Everybody wants somebody's fantasy
Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams

If I was a movie star, five million dollars would be my price
If I was a trucker, I'd drive for seven days and seven lonely
nights
If I was a drummer, I would never miss the beat
If I was a dancer, y'all would never see my feet
If I was a hooker, a thousand dollars would be my price, all right
If I was a candidate for President, I'd make sure I had a steady wife
If I was a millionaire, I'd spend all my money in one crazy night

I am what I am
Yeah, my my boss I am what I am
My dreams can't be bought Yeah, I said now
I tear across the dollar Just to end this day with you Yeah, I am what I am
I am my own boss Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams
Everybody want somebody's fantasy
Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams

Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams
Everybody want somebody's fantasy
Everybody wants somebody's crazy dreams

(thanks to keno)

To me with Dance they succeed doing Groovemusic!
But Suck on the jugular is one of their bloodless groove efforts!
So in my view absolutely different . .

I recall Jagger performing this number as a guest at Ronnie's Drury Lane gig in March, 2005.

Not surprisingly, it brought the house down.
