Just to back Fran's statement some more - just got home from work and opened an e-mail sent this morning at about 11.30 UK time (just after this story broke) from a traditionally very reliable source who's very close to the band who assured me that this 'story' was false.

The Stones management are confirming this is a fabricated news story.
This is their official statement:

‘’Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning on a small music web site in Australia, drummer Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones’’

Case closed. See you on tour next year.

Jesus Christ don't do that to me. I slept at 6.30 and I woke up at 11.30 and read this news. I haven't slept since. Work this night will be VERY hard, but as long as Charlie is in the Stones, I'm happy.

Doesn't say much for the credibility of the Australian site that published
the false news, maybe just looking for a way to be on the map. Shame.

Maybe Charlie doesn't wish to tour for 2 years, and he probably wished another kind of tour : play several shows in one city and let the fans come...
