I'm sure many of you know the answer, but I was just curious. Why did Mr. Perks become Mr. Wyman?

Bill was born as William George Perks at Lewisham Hospital on 24 October 1936. Later when he was in the army he met a guy named Lee Whyman. Bill was very much impressed with this guy. In 1964 William officially changed his name into Bill Wyman.
