Can't find a link to the revue in the magazine and I don't have a scanner, so can't be more specific, sorry.

I did a search on here to see if anyone had posted anything about a reissue of Gimme Shelter.

The Mojo revue says it is on Warners and has

'' 6 more songs from MSG ( 3 more than 2000 US only DVD), 90 gruelling minutes of a post-Alatmont inquest hosted by KSAN Radio,a commentary and a fat 40 page booklet''.

Has anybody come across this issue and have any more information than the sparse amount of detail that is in this revue.

Thanks dcba for the direction, however they do not mention any extras.

Criterion will release a bluray version of Gimme Shelter, however, no mention of any more extras compared to the version they released earlier. So the new version mentioned above is of course the one to get, if Criterion does´nt include the 3 extra songs....

Mojo 190 just hit my shores and I read the full-page review today at the bookstore.
Indeed the reviewer mentions 3 MORE songs than what was on the Criterion edition. He didn't give songs titles though maybe he didn't know them...

They explicitly mention that it has 3 more bonus tracks than the Criterion release so it looks like we´re really gonna get some new MSG´69 footage with this disc. Awesome!

this is excellent news , also pisses me off that they keep adding songs every few years to rip you off with the purchase of a new product

What does he mean by "cries out for a Director's Cut"? AFAIK GS was and is Maysles' final cut.

The Jimi Hendrix footage is missing and that is all over youtube. There was an alternative version with both acoustic songs and Midnight Rambler (Keith lighting a joint or rolling a joint during the performance).

Yeah I had the same idea. The Maysles Bros were not people to be told what to do with the footage they shot...
The writer probably means a "wet dream" 3,5 hours new version.

well ... the 1970 cinema release was censored. the Criterion dvd release is of course an uncensored version,
but maybe the reviewer is thinking of the same "where's the rest of the concert footage" that we'd all love to see.
meanwhile, it's my understanding that the Maysles Institute is restricted in what they can release.

When is this new and improved version going to be available? Does anyone know? I don't even have a copy of the "old" version. I'm getting slack in my old age!

why dont they just get it over with and release the whole show already instead of making us buy our third version of gimme shelter, its ridiculous

is exactly the same as the Criterion edition from 2000 - no extra "extras"

I gave away my Criterion DVD to a fellow for his 50th birthday and haven't replaced it. Can someone remind me what complete performances from MSG are on that DVD?

apparently it has the exact same extras as the Criterion release,
so if you already have that, apparently you don't need this one.
