Just another prime example why the 80's sucked. But with the Stones it started in 78. Actually I couldn't stop laughing during the whole thing. The worst part is having songs from Dirty Work dubbed in with concert footage from 1981!

Seeing the DW cut dubbed over the 81 footage makes me think just how awesome it would have been to see them do more of that album live. I bet we'd be judging the DW totally different today, if they'd toured behind it.
Who knows - "Back to Zero" might be a warhorse today

Absolutely brilliant.

What great memories of the release of this album.

Corny as anything but what else could we want from 1986?

Takes me right back to the day I raced out & bought Dirty Work & played it over & over & loved it, and still do to this day, despite the general opinion of it around here.

Great to see the part they used in the OZ TV add in there - "What are we gonna do?" - "Dirty Work!!!"

Brilliant album & great promo.

Top stuff UrbanSteel - thankyou.

That promo is insane for so many reasons. grinning smiley
The narrator is basically giving away all the promotional "secrets", such as "colorful picture!", "red cellophane", "attractive sticker", etc. etc., as if he wanted to distract the buyer from the possibly crappy music.

I can't believe the length of it either...

Thanks for posting, Urbansteel!

That's just the thing about Dirty Work - it's a horrible album, yet I listen to it quite often.

That's a LOT of hype for such a WEAK album! Amazing! How telling. It's basically as bad as Dortitos or some other junk food - Not good for you but GET IT ANYWAY.

Fascinating, really. Great clip. I always thought that album was poorly marketed. There was a big to do w/ the Grammy, and the 'Harlem Shuffle' premier, then we all waited a month, just enough time for Harlem Shuffle to start to sound a bit old after all the airplay, to hear the new album, and then of course there was no tour for the second album in a row. That combined with the rough music (rough in not so good a way, imo) made for poor sales. The cover was gaudy and silly... I think the sleeve with the cartoon should have been the cover. Oh, I could go on and on about what's wrong with that album... but we've already done that many times... Thanks for posting!

It marked the historical incident of two Keef Lead Vocal Tracks appearing for the first time on Stones LP. So you have Sleep Tonight & Too Rude. There´s also the Title track wich is awful good, and there is Harlem Shuffle wich is not bad. Had it with you is also a solid rocker and that´s the half of the album. So it ain´t bad for an 80ies production. And the tribute to Stu is also a nice gesture & great fade out aof a loud album. I like it, maybe because it was one of the first records i got from the boys at the right age to hear it permanently. It´s true, SF, LIB, EOMS, BB are a lot better but that time was gone. Have a nice day!!!!

This would have been another great chance for a Mick-in-drag photo-op!

Imagine Mick mugging it up, close to the camera, just before diving into the mud pit and rolling around with the other ladies.
I think he missed a great opportunity here!

That's awful. I was finally able to watch the entire thing. Kinay. CBS must have really thought it was a shitty album to do all that kind of hype for it - the first one of the deal too.

It's amazing to think the Stones actually got to be that bad, the overall quality of the album - the sounds, the songwriting, the production. The album title. The album cover.

What were they thinking?
