C o c k sucker Blues
(Mick Jagger / Keith Richards)

Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Unit, Stargroves, Newbury, Berkshire, UK &
Olympic Sound Studios, London, UK, March - May 1970

Mick Jagger - vocals, acoustic guitar

Well, I'm a lonesome schoolboy and I just came into town
Yeah, I'm a lonesome schoolboy and I just came into town
Well, I heard so much about London, I decided to check it out

Well, I wait in Leicester Square with a come-hither look in my eye
Yeah, I'm leaning on Nelsons Column, but all I do is talk to the lion

Oh, where can I get my c o c k sucked, where can I get my ass f u c k e d
I may have no money, but I know where to put it every time

Well, I asked a young policeman if he'd only lock me up for the night
Well, I had pigs in the farmyard, some of them, some of them, they're alright
Well, he f u c k e d me with his truncheon and his helmet was way too tight

Oh, where can I get my c o c k sucked, where can I get my ass f u c k e d
WelI, I ain't got no money, but I know where to put it every time

I'm a lonesome schoolboy in your town
I'm a lonesome schoolboy in your town

Produced by Jimmy Miller

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “The Rest Of The Best” 4LP Box bonus 7” single
(Teldec 6.30125FX) Germany, December 1984 (2nd edition only)

a beautiful piece of music -
and that eloquent *sniff* in the "pigs in the farmyard" line is plain brilliant

Stunning song and amazing they cut it back in the late sixties! It is so hard ass, and really the swinging sixties the Stones probably had their fare share of gay groupies, artists, and hangers on. Jagger masterfully portrays the angst of a young gay boy trying to find some rough trade sex. The dirty twin of Stray Cat Blues. Some of his best lyrics and chilling guitar. Great! What about the supposed piano full band version, and I don't mean the '78 rehersal version with Sugar Blue. Can anyone comment on what they know about the other version cut during the same sessions?? Is it on Boot? Anyone have it and can pass it on??? I too have a come hither look in my eye.

Never knew about the other studio version.
That would be interesting to hear.

Do you mean the full take with the band. Then the same song played and sung as a blues with just the Glimmer Twins on acoustic guitar and vocals ?
The ones from "Itchy Fingers" ?

i think it´s overrated, a nice gem, but because of its unreleased status, partly unreleased because of the bonus 7" and it also appears in the official 25X5 video, it´s much talked about, it´s as interesting as country honk...

Yeah I mean the full band version (but not the one that is on the 78 rehearsals with Sugar Blue)

ok, Sway Stones,
I downloaded ithy fingers.
there is only the 78-version and the well known accoustical one.
I´d love to hear the full-band-70-version if there is one...

I love it too. I like the sad minor chord progression (nice track to play on acoustic guitar) and the nearly ad lib vocals. Given the "frankness" and overt provocation of the lyrics, it had all the excitement of pornography to it when I first heard it on some Italian bootleg in the early Eighties. And the second version from '78 is really great too, just a little bit too relaxed to create the same impact as the original version.

Why do you list two versions of "Schoolboy" Blues there? I agree with the other posts - every different version from the original one has always turned out to be '78 one. withem8, where did you hear about the "full band version"? You didn't learn it from bootleg covers, did you??

No I read about it a few different place. I think one was Roy Carr's Illustrated Record, but not sure, hazy which sources... I explicitly remember reading about a full on band version with piano, and electric. Might have been the description of the band playing it for the Decca execs to give them the finger...

Never heard of a 1970 full band version .....

It seems that I downloaded once a CS Blues Studio demo from 1970 .I'll try to find it on my computer .

Now, that would be a true find!!

Yeah for me one of those stones holy grails.

I did talk with a cat in NY who claims to have heard it as sound track from some out takes from the movie C o c s u c k e r b l u e s. He was working as a film editor in the 70's during the mixing of the soundtrack for afore mentioned movie.

I always thought it would be interesting to research the homosexual culture around the bands of the sixties. Not much written, other than the more legendary anecdotes, ala Brian Epstien and Lennon, Ray Davies' dalliances as well. From several sources it seems Jagger was clearly infatuated with the gay sub culture, and was a participant. Kenneth Anger, Performance, C o c k s u c k e r b l u e s, infatuation with Warhol and she NY gay scene. His infatuation with diva Bowie, and most likely orgies with him as well. I am sure it was a wild scene! Tight pants and rubber in 78. Licking Ronnie. Come on someone do a coffee table book of this shit! It would be great...the art the photos, the participants accounts. Much like the book Hollywood Babylon, but with the rock edge, total performance art to the extent of becoming your character in real life. True method acting to the extreme! Oh yeah, Freddie Mercury! How could I forget! I have read he had a penchant for big sex parties after shows with pretty young boys.

Hate to load up on this observation. But to all you Derek and the Dominoes fans, ever find it strange that song Roll It Over??? "Roll it over, lets take it from behind, Roll it over! Lets take it from behind, its only love, god knows it ain't no crime...." interesting early gay rights from the sound of it? Or is it about Heroin?

It's a great song. Catchy and soulful.

yeah, from reading about this song, I thought it was just a joke, but then hearing it, it's a harrowing performance. Hardly a pro-gay statement, though. It makes being gay seem like a horror film.

I remember buying a bootleg box set called performances which alleged to have four different versions of this track.
Sadly the 1970 version was repeated three times, and the 1978 version was on there once.

A big Dominoes fan...always took that song to mean the bloke wanted to poke his lady in the bum...which may have been still a bit taboo back in the early 1970s!

You should have add :pretty young boys ...all around the world.
And you forgot Lou Reed who dedicated his "Coney Island Baby" to his transexual "girlfriend ".
And Elton John with his funny sunglasses.

You could read this interesting book of Louis Niebur called :Youth,Education and sexuality.

But I think all these stories are a bit "stereotypes "
If on the 70's Bowie and Jagger declared their bisexuality, they denied it ten years later .I always thought it was more a "fashion" .
I think Jagger is deeply heterosexual .

The concept of rock and roll is for me distincly "macho orientation"

Sex and drugs and rock & roll were the unholy trinity ..right ?
But these days are over, because of OD and aids.

YEah thanks LOU!

Thanks for the book, I just ordered it!

I think Jagger is now deeply hetrosexual, but like a lot of boys his age back then he was into experimenting... and rock isn't just macho, Elvis was prettier than most girls! There has always been a flashy gay side to rock, back to even the blues, camp and roll sometimes...
Lou probably had a truncheon with him on Street Hassles!
