The Unreleased Album
Posted by: django ()

I need your help guys. I am trying to put together a CD with all of the finished but unreleased studio material since the seventies. This CD is planned to be a gift to a friend who doubt that enough tracks are available on bootlegs to fill an album. With finished tracks I mean tracks which are probably ready to release, overdubbed and with finished vocal parts and everything. No B-sides, bonus tracks or instrumental versions etc. This is my list so far:

Living In The Heart Of Love
Drift Away
Strictly Memphis
Baby You're Too Much For Me
Claudine
We Had It All
Fast Talking
Criss Cross Mind
Tried To Talk Her Into It (finished?)
For Your Precious Love
Let's Go Steady

I am pretty sure that I could find some more finished tracks on my dozens of outtake CD's and LP's but where? Please feel free to discuss or complete the list. Thanks in advance!

If the circulating take is 'No Spare Parts' is 'finished', then I guess Mick did a good job considering he sounds like he's in the middle of major throat surgery.

Still a Fool is the most obvious omission for me. Honest Man and Get Yourself Together too.

fiji jim is one of their best outtakes ever, imo, and it's no less finished than most of the others listed here....maybe it could be a bonus or hidden track...or a b-side to the first single....

Was that track recorded during the Emotional Rescue sessions? It has a "Summer Romance" feel to it.

I like this tune as well. However, IMO, seems like the lyrics don't quite fit the music. Perhaps that was the issue?

I am totally with you. And not forgetting Deep Love, Crushed Pearl and Treat Me Like A Fool from the DW sessions as well as It's Funny and You Got it Made from Voodoo Lounge. All unfinished but IMO much better than the Keith songs on ABB for example.

I Can't Help It from Paris Results Vol. 2 is definitely finished.

Also Hillside Blues and perhaps Looking For Trouble from the Undercover sessions.

I've always loved Fiji Jim, Misty Roads and I Need You. Excellent. Too bad those idiots didn't finish those tunes and put those out instead of...other tunes.

Open-G wrote yawning smileyr my version, perhaps

Nice Open-G. What is the chord progression? Ron and Keith are hilarious. I have the recording when they are in the booth, overdubbing backing vocals for that song. That was 1993-94, they sound like they had lot of fun, cracking jokes and finishing each other @#$%&-up thoughts;they were the Beavis and Butthead of rock and roll.
