Re: Tracking Cookie: Index to René's Track Talks - I WILL DELETE THIS THREAD SHORTLY

Man!! what is this ..................

There was just one poster that feel the need to reply on a lot of songs, there is nothing wrong with that he just had to catch up some old track talks.

I hope all will stay as it was.

Still hope BV will make GreenLady's thread sticky one day.

And hope that BV does some investigation before banning someone eye rolling smiley

ohh my - this is a complete misunderstanding, for sure! the Track Talk threads are a great iorr institution by now,
and Green Lady's excellent index to them absolutely deserves to be in the "great forum links" list!

BV must have had a temporary case of mistaken identity or something - i trust all is clear now
[lighting the incense of derufflement and gratitude for Rene and Green Lady]

I was temporary banned because Bjornulf thought I posted about 10-20 threads this weekend alone. So when I explained him that that wasn't the case, he let me back in.

Bjornulf didn't ask me to delete anything, it was my suggestion.
At second thought, just leave it this way, I don't want your Tracking Cookie to dissapear, we'll see what will happen.

René

It's your call, René - if you are happy to keep the index I will be very happy to carry on with it (assuming that you are going to keep posting new Track Talks, which I very much hope you are, in spite of the misunderstanding). A lot of people round here would really miss them. I was so relieved to see you back on the board today - I was beginning to wonder if you'd died or something!

I'm not sure that there is anything, short of deleting the index, that can be done to stop a repeat of this little comedy. I was pleased to see someone using the index for the purpose I designed it for - to find old Track Talks that had fallen way down the board. But someone, in all innocence, started reviving dozens of old threads, and discussion started again on quite a few of them (which shows that a good Track Talk never dies...). That's exactly what the Tracking Cookie is for - but maybe not on this sort of epic scale. And of course all those threads had René's name on them, so he got accused of spamming the board.

On reflection, it doesn't seem likely that this will happen again - if anyone else tries to start a general resurrection hopefully we can warn them before bv gets upset. So unless I am told otherwise, the Tracking Cookie has a reprieve for the time being - and thank you for all the kind words, people!

As I posted on another thread, this whole to-do is my fault. Recently I had a little free time on my hands and decided to start giving my two cents on a few Track Talks. I enjoyed doing it so much (thanks René!!) that I decided to go through all of them.

I'm almost done ... just have the "F's and G's" left (since we're only up to "Gomper" so far), plus the Exile bonus tracks, and I would like to have the chance to share my opinion on those, if it's okay with you, BV. If not, please let me know and I will abstain.

René and Green Lady, I'm so sorry to have gotten you in hot water; Track Talk and the index to it are both such splendid ideas, and (to me at least) Track Talk contains some of the most interesting reading on the IORR message board (yes, even more interesting than who Ronnie is dating!).

drewmaster, I think we've all been forgiven now that bv knows what really happened - but maybe twenty or so revived Track Talks on the same day is a bit over the top...

Anyway, it's put the Track Talks back in the public eye, and all publicity is good publicity - you're not related to Andrew Loog Oldham by any chance, are you?

I emailed BV and he said it's okay if I finish the remaining Track Talks I haven't covered, so be prepared for another bout of Track Talk "publicity".

It's René who deserves to be in that list for creating and continuing the Track Talks - but it's more convenient to include one Index in the Great Links than all those different threads (100+ by now!).

Not sure what Nina Simone has to do with this track, but it's a more interesting video than four minutes of the Goats Head Soup cover!

Well, Nina Simone got deleted, so four minutes of the album cover it must be...
