I'm feeling so tired, can't understand it, just had a fortnights sleep
I'm feeling so stuffed, I’m so distracted, ain't touched a thing all week
I'm feeling drunk, juiced up and sloppy, ain't touched a drink all night
I’m feeling hungry, can't see the reason, just had a horsemeat pie

Yeah, when you call my name
I salivate like a Pavlov dog
Yeah, when you lay me out
My heart is beating louder than a big bass drum, alright

Yeah, you got to mix it child, you got to fix it, must be love, it's a bitch
Yeah, you got to mix it child, you got to fix it, must be love, it's a bitch, alright

Sometimes I'm sexy, move like a stud, like kicking the stall all night
Sometimes I'm so shy, got to be worked on, don't have no bark or bite, alright

Yeah, when you call my name
I salivate like a Pavlov dog
Yeah, when you lay me out
My heart is pumping louder than a big bass drum, alright

I said: Hey, yeah, get all right now, get it, got to be a
Hey, I’ll get on right now, get it, yes I am
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, yeah
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, yeah
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, yeah…

One of Taylor's finest moments as a rhythm guitar player. IMO, one of the best rock songs the stones ever made. I got it live for the first time in Oslo 2007. GREAT!

FANTASTIC RIFF! everything is just perfect. it has soooo much drive, rawness and sex! from the first drumkick to the sax-solo, jaggers singing...just amazing! somehow it stands on his own. i cant think of any other stones song that has the same mood/spirit. unfortunately when i first heard i tlive (urban jungle in frankfurt) it was a big (sound)mess!
definitely in my (stones)top 10!

"When we were doing Bitch, Keith was very late. Jagger and Mick Taylor had been playing the song without him
and it didn't sound very good. I walked out of the kitchen and he was sitting on the floor with no shoes,
eating a bowl of cereal. Suddenly he said, Oi, Andy! Give me that guitar.
I handed him his clear Dan Armstrong Plexiglass guitar, he put it on, kicked the song up in tempo,
and just put the vibe right on it. Instantly, it went from being this laconic mess into a real groove.
And I thought, Wow. THAT'S what he does."
- Andy Johns, 2007, quoted on [timeisonourside.com]

song comes from a time the stones were untouchable. it still usually works very well live - at least when the horns aren't too over-bearing....thought it was the singular highlight at the '06 oakland show.

for years i thought i heard about another dog - a big french one - in the lyrics....it took a long time for me to realize it wasn't a dog but a big bass drum....

Great song. Back when the Stones were really on their groove for taking great rhythm and melding it with great rock'n'roll riffage and letting it all out.

a great outro on the studio cut, with a heavy reverb on mick's vocal.

Great, great song on Stikcy Fingers but the live version with full horn intro seemed counter to the grove of the record and over the top...IMHO...

One of the very strong stonessongs, perfectly arranged and it features terrific drumplaying by Charlie. The guitars are wonderful. The song has been played in many rocking liveversions!

I like Taylor's Texas boogie improvisation during the L&G performance.

When the horns and bass hold down the rhythm the rhythm guitar is freed up to flail away. The band has learned that with Ronnie and it is an effective song as T&A mentioned about that '06 Oakland show. There are instances when Taylor dropped the rhythm and the resulting guitar-work was absolutely ferocious.

A good muscular guitar song.

Listen to what he does to the rhythm at the second Phil performance in 1972. Particularly when the horns are not playing, he transforms the signature riff (as he did with JJF and GS during this tour) and then later during Richards' solo flips the riff around. Phenomenal stuff--and what makes the different shows so much fun and interesting to listen to.

That's pure rock'n roll energy. Love the sound of Keith's guitar. And his playing, too.

It's got a lot of energy, I'll give it that. But a wee bit over-rated, if you ask me ...doesn't quite rank among the Stones greatest work. Not to slag it, but I just don't think it has the magic of, say, JJF or HTW. Maybe because to me it feels a bit derivative, a bit forced.

Just my two cents. Now back to your regular programming.

I never understood it though....Taylor is by all means a mediocre rythm player, and the way he played the riff live has always been miles away from the studio version. His right hand is fairly week for rythm playing, but on this record it suddenly is loud, aggressive and mean -just as you would expect Keith would do it. Then there's the remark from Andy Johns, would doesn't make sense knowing that Keith is only credited with the fills.

I have never been fully confident the main riff actually is Taylor...
